The handicapped and senior citizens to name a few.

Basically any group that can be grouped to show a commonality or speciality of interests.

(at least that's my off the top definition)

Well the Dem's are talking about running Bush and his "Speciall interest groups" out of Washington, But from from the above mentioned groups, this would include things like Unions. I know the Democrats worship the ground that Unions walk on. I don't think anyone would consider PETA someone that they would listen too, they are "Nut Jobs" yelling at little kids because mommy has a fur coat.

So do republicans, greens, independants, libertarians, socialists...

Infact, I almost believe that all politicians play politics the same.

don't forget oil companies or any other big buisness.

when I hear special interests groups I think of those people who contribute lots of money to campaign funds in order to buy votes. The purchase of votes should be completely outlawed and the only way to do that is stop allowing people to contribute to campaigns. Give each canidate the same stipend from the government and the problem is solved. If someone wants to contribute to the campaigning they have to go through the government who distributes the money evenly. Maybe then polititions wouldn't be afraid to help the enviornment at the dismay of big buisness.
