Alongside pictures of motorcycle trick riders, naked women, photographs with comical captions and pictures of human oddities, Brooklynbacon posts messages supposedly about his job and, in some instances, his own misconduct. Any one of the offenses he describes could cost an officer his job.

In railing against an unspoken traffic ticket quota he says officers must meet - 10 tickets per week, he contends - he writes: "The new commanding officer of the precinct is pressuring us to write more and more tickets. We were officially told NOT to write anymore tickets for headlights and taillights. Most people fix the problem within 24 hours and the ticket would be admonished [sic] therefore the City of New York makes no money in the end.

"So I have come up with a better way of writing tickets. I just write down the plates of the cars that cut me off the the [sic] parkways and I send them a bogus parking ticket in the mail. The person will then have to deal with the Parking Violations Bureau and not me. Problem quickly resolved. So, in other words, be careful who you cut off on the road. They might be an off-duty cop and they could write your plates down and write you a $150 parking ticket. Have a nice day."

A police source said Internal Affairs investigators are reviewing all tickets written by the suspected officer. Brooklynbacon answered an e-mail but did not respond to a request for an interview. According to a message posted yesterday, he's still on patrol.

On the Web site, Brooklynbacon describes his area of expertise as "human sanitation worker." While he doesn't reveal his name or the precinct where he's assigned, he provides plenty of hints - a partial photograph of his face, the fact that he's an avid motorcycle rider and the police calls he alleges to have answered - that led investigators to identify him, sources said.

Many postings on the site offer what appears to be the view of a dissatisfied cop. Brooklynbacon slams the NYPD's anti-terrorism training as a waste of time and rips on the poor quality of bulletproof vests officers are issued. He also ridicules the people he purportedly is called on to help, calling himself a "baby-sitter" and repeatedly saying that everyone he deals with is on welfare.

In other postings, he flaunts his own alleged misconduct. After a particularly long shift, he wrote, he was called to the Crown Heights' 77th Precinct late in November to search for two men who stabbed an off-duty officer during a robbery attempt. When he arrived at the scene, scores of cops were already searching for the suspects so "my partner and I decided to sit inside the car and stay warm," he wrote.

"Perhaps play some games on our mobile laptops inside the patrol cars? The other units conducted a door to door searches [sic] of every apartment in the building while I conducted eye lid maintenance. ZZzzzz."

He also wrote that after getting into a motorcycle crash during the summer, he was assigned a desk job upon returning to work. He wrote that he quickly realized "they assigned me to the wrong position."

"I have neither sympathy nor remorse when people call me up complaining about their problems. I have no feelings when people complain about loud music and I could really care less if they are seeking information regarding a family member that has been incarcerated. Cry me a river."

In that same posting, submitted this fall, he said he expected to return to patrol within two weeks.

"Sitting behind a desk and looking pretty is not my style," Brooklynbacon stated. "I am the type of person who loves getting my hands dirty whether it is chasing someone down a street or just giving them the 'good old fashion nypd beat down.' I hope you didn't think those beatings don't really exist do you?"

On a separate posting detailing his alleged desk duty, he wrote that when people called the precinct trying to report a complaint, his pat response was "'I will send a patrol car there immediately' but in reality I will wait for them to call back at least 5 times before I really send someone over there."

This man, if he is really a police officer, is a traitor and should be executed. I think the double standard works both ways. If a murder gets the death penalty for being a " cop killer" thus making cops better than normal people ( something i agree with, dont kill cops!!!!) then when a cop goes bad, he should also be punished to a more sever level.
If killing a cop is worse than killing a non cop, then when a cop abuses that higher station in life, he is to be punished worse than a non cop.

I don't think he should be executed. He's a corrupt cop, not a serial killer. I don't see how you can really classify him as a traitor, either.

Also, while his behavior is sickening, buried in all that BS are several legitimate concerns about the way the NYPD is run. There are obviously better ways to voice those concerns, but hopefully something can be learned from this incident in addition to simply punishing the cop in question.

There's no way in hell he deserves the death penalty.

Just make those NYPD caps have NYPD - (this guys name here)

I'm sure there are quite a few cops like this guy. Just not as stupid.

I agree about this, mabye i was too emotional. I am calm now, but I have to say that bad cops really get me going. ANd I still say that a cop that kills deserves the death penalty automatically.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he's corrupt, as that implies kickbacks of some sort. All I see here is incompetency and abuse of power, which can be found in pretty much any job. He should definitely be punished for it, though.

put him in jail!!! he could probably be sued for malpractice of being a cop too...could he? wut an aRsE!!

I'm sure that police forces everywhere have guys like this... just like any other job. Cops are humans, nothing more, nothing less.

I'd agree to stronger punishments for those with greater authority. Indeed, in Japan, at the higher levels of society, it used to be expected that if you had failed to meet your responsibilities, you would remove the shame to yourself and your family by ritual suicide. That being said, I do not want the government to kill anyone in my name. He won't last long in prison anyway.

So you are against a humane death by lethal injection and pro death by prison shank?

I suspect that this guy is a pretty normal cop, just stupid enough to write this all. Not all cops are bad, but most are.

My understanding of lethal injuection is that it is not humane. AFAIK, no medical staff participate in the operations, either.

But the distinction in this case is that one's opposition to state-sanctioned murder should not be understood as an endorsement of other types of murder. You inverted the statement and reached an erroneous conclusion.

I certainly hope (and believe) that most cops aren't bad. I suspect that most want to help their communities and the rest just want to do a job.

I would say that cops are rarely bad, but the few cases we know of should be cause for concern.

I think that when an officer violates the law, he or she should be punished for the offense as well as for violating the public trust. Violating one's position as an entrusted official has the potential to create more damage than a personal offense as it could adversely effect the social structure and belief system in terms of police legitimacy if not addressed.

Insofar as this guy was insensitive, lazy, prejudiced, occasionally violent, and incompetent, I think that fits in with most people's idea of what the majority of police are like.

Maybe that is a false stereotype, but I am pretty sure it is a commonly held belief.

Nope its not a commonly held belief. You dont seem to give people enough credit. People are smart enought to no that Joe Average cop is a decent fellow, but the bad one get all the attention.
