24, between Bush & Powell.

Dunno if I trust this test, some of the questions were odd. But I ended up scoring about where I thought I would.

sixate 04-30-2003 12:31 PM

32

Sounds about right to me!

Liquor Dealer 04-30-2003 12:33 PM

Sixate must have broken it - Can't get in!

sixate 04-30-2003 12:36 PM

Still works for me LD. I don't know what to tell ya.

Liquor Dealer 04-30-2003 01:19 PM

I got 24 I'm between Powell and Bush also - not a bad place to be!

boatin 04-30-2003 02:39 PM

17. I'd vote the Powell/Clinton ticket. Hope nobody agreed with #20 here at TFP!

The_Dude 04-30-2003 03:50 PM

yeah baby, cant believe i'm not as liberal than hillary clinton.

i'm pretty moderate on fiscal policies though.

hey Sixate, this makes you 20% liberal. I won't tell anyone, I promise. :D

Me either. :D

boatin, don't worry. The 80% conservative part of me kicks the liberal part into submission. :)

George W Bush 04-30-2003 04:45 PM

The Poll didnt register my vote in for some reason but I got a 37.

bundy 04-30-2003 05:24 PM

i scored 8.
Between Ted Kennedy and Hilary Clinton - ooh, sandwiches!!
but, not being American, this really doesn't mean anything to me.

way2young 04-30-2003 05:34 PM

I got a 9, but I'm oneof those idealistic university students in the northern-midwest. I think the nation counts on us being liberal.

phoenix1002 04-30-2003 05:34 PM

I got a 9. Damn, I guess I've gotten even more liberal with age... all 5 years since I took the last test like that. Last time I was more in the middle.

edit: I know only 11 people have done the poll so far, but its interesting to see how the political views of the people pan out. There seems to be a relatively equal representation of both sides (at least so far).

Memalvada 04-30-2003 07:08 PM

11 :)

guthmund 04-30-2003 08:52 PM

I'm a 12......

I'm also destined for the eighth circle of Hell according to the other test I took off of fark.....

Does this mean Hell is filled with liberals....:)

darksparkles 04-30-2003 09:45 PM

11.

Phaenx 04-30-2003 10:21 PM

I got a 27. Bigger number wins ^_^.

smooth 04-30-2003 11:01 PM

First 0-5 vote! Sitting with Ted Kennedy. But as way2young stated--except that I'm in the Pacific Northwest with the rest of the hippies!

I thought you woulda been in the negatives. :)

drewg 05-01-2003 03:01 AM

I got a 6, but to me the test is a little confusing. I'n my country, being "Liberal" still means you're to the right.

reconmike 05-01-2003 12:55 PM

34 here, I can not seem to understand why, I feel I am really kinda leberal ya know

BoCo 05-01-2003 10:01 PM

35!

In your faces, liberals! :p

KillerYoda 05-01-2003 10:14 PM

Weird...I'm exactly in the middle with 20 and I get to be Colin Powell, apparently.

So I'm conservative enough to please sixate, and liberal enough that the_dude will see me as an ally.

Holy shit, I'm a politician!

Neat test.

JStrider 05-02-2003 09:45 AM

16... almost a clinton...

all i need now is a cigar and arie to be my intern... :-D hehe...

12

crewsor 05-02-2003 08:32 PM

24, about what I would expect.

boatin 05-02-2003 09:31 PM

I want to see the correlation between the two tests. Mine didn't really match up. But it appears that most people's did. Anyone else get divergent answers?

I was 6 and 6 (roughly) on the compass, and a 17 on this. The compass seems more accurate to me...

maximusveritas 05-02-2003 09:45 PM

Yeah, the compass was a much better quiz that this one. This one takes a very simplistic view of liberals and conservatives. It is more of a quiz to tell you if you are a Democrat or a Republican.

For people like me who don't mindlessly agree with everything my political party says, this quiz is not suitable.

BBtB 05-03-2003 09:45 AM

This is a very simple quiz but in the end it ended where I would say is about right. I got a 24. Another politcal quiz I have taken that was much more indepth and also stated political party (and I think it has been posted here so most of you have probably taken it as well) put me as a libertarian and RIGHT in the dead center of the whole Liberal / Conservetive mess which I think is just about right.

druptight 05-04-2003 10:32 AM

10 - about where i expected

cj2112 05-04-2003 10:51 AM

23....yep I'm pretty middle of the road

DEI37 05-04-2003 06:54 PM

Ended up a 30...a little more liberal than I'd thought I'd be according to this, but oh well. I'd tell you where I stand on some things, but I'd get my ass beat, becuase what I think isn't popular. But, it makes sense.

Tophat665 05-04-2003 07:45 PM

11, but that is because there were some idiotic questions in there that, I could tell what answer they thought was the left leaning one, but which was merely the stupid one.

I lean as far left as I can manage, but I am nobody's nanny, and I refuse to let the leadership of either side tell me what to think.

6

btw this is a really poorly designed poll/quiz.
the criteria for defining the positions seem cartoon-like----many of the questions are posed in ways that force you into ridiculous choices.

ObieX 04-30-2005 07:34 AM

I got a 17, which put me right in the middle of Bill Clinton (15) and Colin Powell (20). Sounds good to me.

I agree with roach, i dont like many of the questions.

Locobot 04-30-2005 07:57 AM

what a horrible quiz. I refuse it

Strange Famous 04-30-2005 08:03 AM

I scored 3. A lot of it was quite specifically American though.

tecoyah 04-30-2005 08:58 AM

figued as much.....14

Paq 04-30-2005 09:02 AM

10...i cuold have answered a few differently and gotten 15, so a clinton clinton bill would totally rock for me :)

as for which i trust more, legislature or executive...trick question?

TexanAvenger 04-30-2005 09:12 AM

12... I'll buy that.

Lead543 04-30-2005 09:24 AM

17, between Bill Clinton and Powell. But I'm Canehdian.

DukeNukem4ever 04-30-2005 09:35 AM

Looking at the results of this poll... why does it NOT surprise me that most scored between 6-15.
Maybe that says something... maybe it does not... who’s to say. :hmm:

Furry 04-30-2005 10:59 AM

12 - but then again I'm a liberal, pot-smoking, politically reactionist student.

TheJig 04-30-2005 11:08 AM

14 - Right between Hillary and Bill. (Now I know what Lewinsky felt like.)

F-18_Driver 04-30-2005 02:09 PM

34.

Well, SOMEBODY's gotta pay the bills around here!

alansmithee 04-30-2005 02:37 PM

I agree with some previous posters that this quiz seems mildly ridiculous. It seemed more like something you'd find on someone's angelfire homepage. Some of the questions were just silly, and didn't really seem to have any real value to determine anything.

btw, I (like many people) got a 24.

xxSquirtxx 04-30-2005 06:07 PM

35...that's right, thirtyfuckingfive!!!! Dead on with Bob Dole. xxSquirtxx likes Bob Dole. And OMG -- I didn't even agree to banning graphic pornography! Scandalous! :D

My husband took this and got 24. We need to talk! :hmm: Heh.

MooseMan3000 04-30-2005 06:51 PM

10. About 5 years ago, before I knew anything, I would have scored lower. I really hope that doesn't mean my score will keep going up as I get older. [/nightmare]

Grasshopper Green 04-30-2005 07:08 PM

11. Right about where I thought it would be.

Supple Cow 04-30-2005 07:35 PM

Boo. Those questions had pretty limited answer options. I guess the fact that it reduces political diversity into a linear spectrum could have tipped me off before I took it, but I was hoping for something a little better than that. Got a 19.

arch13 04-30-2005 10:34 PM

15

Yeah, that's about right. Closer to centrist democrat's like Bill and far from good ol' Ted Kennedy
I suspect that the onyl things that moved me to the right hand side are my cutting of entitlement.
I may also be the only one who voted for raising taxes for every group.

Jeff 04-30-2005 11:45 PM

16

I ain't mad at that.

Sounds close enough.

Gilda 05-01-2005 02:31 AM

9 which seems about right.

Charlatan 05-01-2005 05:40 AM

11 but a lot of that was aimed at Americans... so I may have answered some of the questions contrary to my own beliefs because I didn't get the reference.

Tophat665 05-01-2005 06:11 AM

There were a couple of questions that should have had "And this question deeply offends me" as a choice or a checkbox. Comparing FDR with Reagan in terms of who's the better president? That's like saying who's smarter, Steven Hawking or Terry Schaivo. Feh!

(idealistic college student)

rhaevyn 05-02-2005 03:36 AM

13. Right between the Clintons.

Kadath 05-02-2005 03:45 AM

I like that this thread made a comeback after almost exactly two years of death.

10, right smack on Hillary. Oof. By the end I was also fed up with the questions.

kutulu 05-02-2005 01:38 PM

12. I guess that fits.

liquidlight 05-02-2005 01:50 PM

23. . . Does that make me a moderate?

oktjabr 05-03-2005 07:45 AM

I got a 9 but as most foreigners, I didn't really have an opinion on some of those questions.

AngelicVampire 05-04-2005 12:58 PM

22: but I had to guess for some of these as I am not American...

muckluck 05-04-2005 02:21 PM

10, I was expecting less then that.

JBX 05-04-2005 02:46 PM

30 Jack Kemp. Hmm, Jack hates being told what to do too?

Ace_O_Spades 05-04-2005 02:54 PM

I didn't understand a few of the questions (I'm Canadian), so my score might be skewed

I got a 12

tspikes51 05-04-2005 05:13 PM

21. I love being a moderate theist.

Hektore 05-04-2005 05:47 PM

15 not quite in the middle, exactly where I thought I was

StephenSa 05-05-2005 09:20 AM

I'm a 16, right where Clinton was scored. Seems correct for me, a little left of center.

superiorrain 05-05-2005 10:29 AM

17, i thought i was more right than left. But looks like i'm batting straight down the midde. Although don't think i particularly understood all the questions, very american. FBI,CIA,IRS - i'm sure i'd hate them all if i had dealings with any of them

fibber 05-05-2005 05:27 PM

I just punched my self in the face and wrote down a random number, I can't stand quizes where I know the score before I complete them.

17.6542

dark_cadaver 06-14-2005 11:17 AM

Well it's been a really long time since anyone contributed to this thread, so I thought I would.

Even though the questions were mostly from an American point of view (I'm Canadian) I feel I know enough about our southern neighbour to warrant opinion. So I did it, and ended up with a 5, which I suppose isn't surprising given my nationality.

I guess I'm just adding to the notion that we're all ultra liberal hippies up here ;)

eMOTIONal20 06-14-2005 02:36 PM

wow... neat little test.

Except I got a 13.

I expected lower.

Hooray for Hilary though. :D

maleficent 06-14-2005 02:56 PM

Some of the questions had no good answers:
10.
Which would curb violent crime most?

Stricter controls on the sale of guns
Mandatory sentences for those who use guns in the commission of a crime
Both

(how about Education - none of the answers is a good one - -nor one would I choose)

I ended up with a 26 -- and here i thought I was more tight assed than that...

frogza 06-14-2005 03:06 PM

24

I found myself wanting to give more detailed answers instead of simple yes/no. Many of my views don't strictly fit in black or white.

laconic1 06-14-2005 03:18 PM

27. I didn't like all the questions, some of the options were disagreeable either way.

Ustwo 06-14-2005 03:30 PM

31 go figure.

The questions basicly guided you.

FoolThemAll 06-14-2005 04:40 PM

29.

Some horrible questions there.

sbscout 06-14-2005 04:56 PM

10... no surprise to me, but I agree that some of the questions needed a "grey" area.

pan6467 06-15-2005 06:05 AM

12 here, interesting but just like the elections of late the test proved to force you to choose between the lesser of 2 evils.

Like question 4 where do you believe taxes should be higher....... there was no raise tariffs... which everyone on here knows I am extremely vocal about doing.

9 elders or robertson...... what a choice both extremists wouldn't trust either

I wouldn't trust anyone in either extreme, I'd say anyone between Bill (15) and Bush (25) or close to would be suitable for Pres. and I don't know I'd say W's administration is off the map to the 45 (I know it's not possible but)..... and someone like Jackson or Sharpton maybe in negatives.

Overall a very interesting quiz.
