We have become a bunch of babies that need big brother to hang up the phones for us. For Goodness Sake, HANG UP, Don't Buy and this whole thing stops in it's tracks.
If you hang upon them before they get a chance to say anything or in the middle of a sentence, they will call back. I worked as a telemarketer, and if the person on the other line picks up and does not listen to what you have to say or what product you are selling (example: "Hi, I'm calling on behalf of the... *hangup*), the telemarketer places you on the redial list and is instructed to call you back at a later time. Yep. Just thought you might like to know.

I worked as a telemarketer, and hated it. I honestly felt bad about annoying people. But you know what? It was the only job I could get. The economy sucks, if you haven't noticed. The people I worked with were laid-off steel workers, mothers with 5 children whos husband/father of their children had left them and didnt pay child support and work as telemarketer along with 2 other jobs, poor people, people who had recently just lost their jobs due to cut backs and could not find other work, old feeble women, and so forth. While you may not feel sympathy for these people, I do.

i noticed nobody mentioned something that absolutely cracks me up about this whole thing...... i believe it was the Denver Judge that ruled against the list, HE WAS ACTUALLY SIGNED UP ON THE LIST! lol, months before this whole thing came to the courts, he signed up on the list, then later comes in saying it's unconstitutional. that's some funny shit right there.

Has anyone noticed a difference since the Do Not Call list went into effect? I would say that I have had significantly fewer unwanted calls (and in particular significantly fewer "empty" messages on my voicemail.) But it's only been a month or so, so it may be coincidence. Any other experiences out there?

I was getting upwards of 8 a day.

Since Oct 1st I've had 1.

I used to have to leave the phone off the hook if I wanted to take a nap.

We have been getting more junk mail, but I can live with that :)

I'm *currently*, working for a company that does some telemarketing. It's a little different than most and not quite so annoying. BUT we do have to abide by no call list laws. If you just ask to "Be taken off the list" it usually doesnt happen. You need to make a serious request to be PUT ON the Do Not Call list. Then write down the date you did it. Keep it by the phone or whatever. It takes a couple days to be put on the call list at the company and about 3 months to be put on it nationally...
