I had a conversation with a co-worker today and as it so often does these days,the conversation moved to politics. I asked her if she had any idea of how she was going to vote and she said she doesn't vote anymore. This of course lead me to ask why? Her reason was Prop 187. She said it showed her how little her vote meant.

Now many Democrats (and some Republicans for that matter, believe it or not) are saying that Davis was voted in by the will of the people and so there should be no recall. Davis won by a clear majority (5%,) end of story. Prop 187 was passed by a far greater margin (19%,) but was immediately placed under an injuction.

5 million people had their votes rendered meaningless by 1 judge. 187 wasn't perfect by any stretch, but Davis had the duty to at least try and fight the injunction and he didn't. This should have been a Supreme Court case, but Davis didn't follow through on his promise to fight for it.

It just comes across to me that people (mainly Democrats) consider Davis's 360,000 vote margin to have more weight than a 1 million + vote margin. I'll toss in another number here, 5 million voted for prop 187, Davis wasn't even able to get 3 and half million votes.
