45-minute claim on Iraq was hearsay
Now it seems that the 45 min claim was on even shallower ground that believed before... I guess that Blair is going to step down pretty soon...

hmm, I kept reading heresy
![]() But hearsay is pretty shitty, too. What are you basing your assertion that Blair is going to step down on? I didn't see that in the article but I haven't been following British politics as closely as I was any more.

Ah, that was just my personal opinion what he should do in a situation like this... Our prime minister had to step down by just holding her office for a couple of months because she lied (about some secret iraq papers) on the face of parliament and lost the trust of the opposition parties and later from one of the major parties.

I agree with you from what I understand; I just wondered if you had heard him say it.

i really liked the guy till this. it seemed like he didnt have a backbone for himself and followed bush on whatever he [bush]said.
i think a vote of confidence is gonna come up pretty soon and that is the end to t.blair. he's more popular in american than in britain......how sad.

what is the difference between geogre w being mistaken about weapons of mass distrution and bush being mistaken about the 45 min
yes blair has a poor rating at home but i dont think he will be removed the british economy cant take the blow if he is removed then they have admitted to war crimes and that will cost a pretty penny ill put $2 down on blair making it through a vote of nonconfidence

If Blair doesn't go down, it seems to me some pretty senior advisors are going to have to bow out. The British press will most likely keep following the story until someone bites the bullet - Blair or otherwise.
If Blair falls, it will be interesting to see how the US media plays it vis a vis Bush and his really very similiar claims. Bush did, at one point, use the 45 minutes figure in a radio address. Generally, the UK press is more tenacious than that of the US, but it would be pretty hard to ignore our biggest ally's leader being toppled in this way.
