Well that response is pretty biased too - most people who want the laws of course want them to be enforced - the fact of the matter is, people don't think they ever will work and thus don't do anything about it, only adding to the problem.
If everyone accepted it could work and tried for it, then why wouldn't it make progress. |

By the way, the poll itself does not fit snugly in the envelope which they provide to send it back. You have to fold it in half both ways.

Homeland security and, in a general sense, 'the economy' will the factors in the upcoming contest. Depending on developments in Iraq, that too could become an issue. Social rights will not play much a role, I would venture to say.
Perhaps the Patriot Act will be debated, depending on the nominee, but on the left gun control and on the right abortion will be downplayed, IMHO. No one will talk about the real issues facing our nation in the 21st century: an ever escalating national debt limit which could prove disasterous should overseas backers lose confidence in our economy and refuse to extend further credit, the fact that the US still floats on an ocean of imported goods, or that thousands of jobs are lost in America each year to foreign states (specifically manufacturing and tech). If the Asian banks should ever decide to cease stopping their currencies from rising against the dollar (as they do now to provide an attractive market for exports) we could be in it deep.
