Bridge over the river...OH NO!...*crash*

Not really the most explosive of news stories:
Bridges in the US need repair
I guess it could bring up a discussion on how we need to work on stuff at home rather than blow up other counties. Discuss amongst yourselves, I got a plane to catch in 2 hours.

there's more than just bridges that need work.

i mean, almost any project could use money. i saw the abc special on nasa and how limited they were on manpower and funding.

there's a lot of places that funding could've went.

Everyone has different opinions as to where money would be put to a better purpose. Infrastructure is a problem, granted, but what about protecting our infrastructure? The domestic funding is sorely lacking...

we could just give 80% of our pay to the goverment,

that what you wanted right.

This is simply what happens when you dismantle your public infrastructure over 20 years. You get to the point where its a threat to national security.

Half the states in America don't have federal experts trained in bioterrorism.

CDC labs are underfunded.

The FDA inspected only 1 percent of food imports under its jurisdiction in 2001 and is in desparate need of more inspectors.

The EPA is years behind its schedule in safeguarding the water supply against bioterrorism.

Tommy Thompson said "public health is a national security issue" yet we all know what most people think when hear the words public health.

The whole friggin' infrastructure of the U.S. needs an overhaul.
Period.

I must be spoiled, at least the blood sucking reps here in jersey are spending my over taxed dollars on something, the roads and bridge system are excellent here.

merkerguitars 07-15-2003 03:42 PM

Doesn't suprise me....especially states like wisconsin thats hands out so much free $$$$ and how roads and bridges don't last as long as they could due to the weather.
