A comparison of headlines:
A comparison of headlines, with the accompanying top-fold pictures:
MSNBC: HOW HE DID IT (rotating slideshow of happy voters that I can't paste here) CNN: "This is your victory" http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/PO....obama4.ap.jpg Washington Post: "CHANGE HAS COME" http://media.washingtonpost.com/wp-s...e/11-5-08a.jpg USA Today: "With Obama win, America changes course" http://i.usatoday.net/news/_photos/2...lose-giant.jpg Fox News: http://www.foxnews.com/images/root_i...0508_obama.jpg Fox news is pathetic. Noting that the editorial decision was "Let's put 'a world of trouble' in big bold letters next to his picture" is almost amusing until you realize these jokers are actually calling themselves fair and balanced journalists. Note the photographic techniques. They stuck him on the side of the picture, facing the side. No noseroom. Makes the picture less open, especially since we are accustomed to seeing people facing the opposite edge of photos. They made sure to catch him when he wasn't smiling, and in fact looks annoyed. (must've had to spend a long time going through frames to find that one.) They placed a blurred, almost gollum looking picture of him behind the words. Little tricks like this all serve to give you the visual perception that this guy is shifty and unpleasant. |

As I posted elsewhere, admittedly under the influence of my med's, countdown to
attacks on Obama's Presidency start in 5,4,3,2,1 HERE YOU GO! Nice post. |
How long 'til the "Don't Blame Me, I voted For McCain" stickers come out?
I'm betting 1.20.2009 |

I'm betting sooner than that. The republican party is in shambles. They have no clear definition anymore. Shakran: I noticed the same things you did, and saw even more of the same in the ad campaigns that were spreading like wildfire in the last ditch efforts of the past week. I wonder if people who aren't in the media notice these things or the subliminal effect really does have an impact. |
just for fun, I flipped over to Fox News at about midnight last night. It was like a funeral

TV "news" is almost 100% cheap show biz. Every TV channel I tried to watch got me pissed off with all the theatrics and cheap, fabricated drama, especially with their "upcoming revelation right after this commercial break". I just turned the TV off and watched the little voting progress map on NPR online...not that they're unbiased, but at least I can be selective of what I read including pros and cons on any issue.
