Obama's TV show - Oct 29th
Obama plans half-hour TV ad - Barack Obama News - MSNBC.com
Does this take advertising too far? Or is this smart or fair? I guess Obama can do what he wants with his money. It will be interesting to see how he goes about convincing people he has a plan that will work. How should he keep people entertained enough to keep watching, while at the same time explain how his proposals will work? Should McCain make his own 30-minute ad? He could put it on-line (and on C-Span & maybe PBS would pick it up too) and say that he saved his contributors millions of dollars. |
It seems risky. He has enough of a lead that he should be playing rope a dope. With the Palin choice and the "that one" comment, McCain is killing his own campaign.

If I remember, I think this has been done in the past by other candidates. I'm not sure of the success rate. The Obama campaign has plenty of money to spend, and from what I read he had good fund-raising month in September. I don't think McCain has the same access unless he taps into the beer baroness' money...

It's a bold move, but I think Obama's machine is plenty media-savy and has its finger on the pulse adequately to make it work.

Does anyone else wish it was a variety show?
Really, it's a very good idea. McCain has been in the public eye at the very least since the 2000 election. Sure, he was more of a maverick back then instead of a party lackey like he is now, but he had plenty of exposure already. Obama needs to match that familiarity. This seems like a good opportunity. Anyone watching McCain for 30 minutes might think they're watching Cocoon 2: Evil Old People. |
The Obama infomercial... buy now and each of you will get a set of steak knives at no extra cost.

Perot did this in '92. He had several 30 minute spots. At first they bolstered him immensely, it's how he first got attention. By the end though he looked sad, tired and as nutty as a fruitcake... the more he spoke the worse he sounded.
Laroche {think that's his name} was another 3rd party candidate that was I believe a rich La. a former congressman that would air 30 minute shows on why he should be president. I just wonder why he is doing this if he has such a huge lead. |
