Adirondack Balloon Festival
I went to a hot air balloon festival last night at Glens Falls. There were around 90 balloons that were supposed to fly last night. These are some of the pictures I got.

David, some very colorful photos. These were great. Thanks for sharing.

cool points go to the balloon with the sea creatures.
I bet the other 'plain balloons' must've felt pretty lame... thanks! |
Yes, the colors are spectacular.
Interesting time of day (looks to be dusk or dawn)...the lighting adds spice. |
Neat stuff. That little bug ballon in the middle of yoru group: that would be mine if I ever owned one. Haha! Nice time of day lighting as well. Thanks for posting!

This was about 5:30PM. The balloon launches happen early in the day or late afternoon to early evening. I think this has to do with those times being less windy than mid-day.

The blue-ness of the sky makes for a perfect backdrop. Did you use a filter to bring those colours out? Fantastic job!

I used a polarizer for most of the pictures. Depending on where I was facing, it brought out the deep blue sky. I had some that the polarizer turned to a rather ugly purple-gray color. I used the 18-55mm kit lens that I bought with my Digital Rebel for most of the pictures. I had my 70-200mm lens, but I was too close to get shots of more than one balloon with it. One thing I found out is that a polarizer doesn't always work well with a wide angle shot. I ended up with some wide angle shots where I had a color gradient to the sky with one end light blue and the other dark blue.
