Some great photos, thanks for sharing. I plan on doing so in about another 2 months in the Hill Country area of Texas during wildflower bloom.

we live on a fantastic planet.
all these petaled beauties just waiting for us to pause & take notice. thanks for sharing what you've stopped to appreciate, StanT. :) |
Ok, so it's not really a wild flower, but I took this outside of Notre Dame this past November when I was there with friends. I was surpised to see anything in bloom, yet there was a good dozen or so of these roses in the garden behind the catherdral!

O M G!!!!!!!
Those are so gorgeous I think I just creamed my jeans! :D |
Wow. Beautiful shots, everyone.
http://www.aviation.fi/~janne/tfp/DSC_0057-01.jpg I've always been fond of flowers growing in harsh conditions (cold climates, high altitudes or latitudes). Hard to describe what it is really, but there's something delicate in their beauty as opposed to the almost aggressive beauty of, say, tropical flowers. Not that there's anything wrong with those, it's just so different. Bluebells, Finnish Lapland, lake Inari: http://www.aviation.fi/~janne/tfp/DSC_0058.jpg http://www.aviation.fi/~janne/tfp/DSC_0063.jpg |
Nice shots. I went to an photography show a couple weeks back and it was all flowers. Holy Moly, some of them were pure art. I bought 2 pics and decided to try my hand at taking some flower pics. I will post them when I get them on my computer.
Well done, some of those are worth printing and framing. |
Beautiful work. Geez, StanT...I mean, GEEZ! Beautiful! And I think the first bluebell by mlrd is amazing, too. I gotta get back out and shoot!

Here's a photo of a wildflower that grows in abundance in my backyard. It's called Trillium.

Great pictures everyone!
Stan, where did you take the Columbine picture, and the beargr1 picture? Those are beautiful. Here is my contribution. |
The beargrass picture was taken in Glacier National Park, Montana a few years ago. The columbine was taken in my backyard near Boulder, CO.
|
Guess which of these is called 'Angry Huntsman':

Not many blooms out, yet, in Hill Country. Perhaps in another couple of weekends.
|
Give me all your lupines!
|
Great shots, everyone! I love wildflowers, just not terribly handy with a camera I guess. Hubby has some wonderful black and whites that would look good in this collection but alas, we have no scanner. Great thread!!!
|
thats an awesome little plant harry...the one that looks like a brittle star with a thousand legs. Really cool looking. Good photo too

A couple of weeks back, I drove 18 hours in Hill Country looking for wildflower and it was pretty much a bust. I found this hill of bluebonnets a whole 5 minutes from where I'm staying, today. I just couldn't believe it.
|
LewisCouch, trilium is the provincial flower of Ontario!
Just some info! |
Beautiful thread, StanT. And some sweet blooms from everyone. Damn I love Spring being in the air.
Here's a couple from my hood: These are all over the ground now: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...aster0421a.jpg And this is a tree. Witchhazel I believe: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...ster006new.jpg |

Drove down to Ennis for the Wildflower Festival this past weekend. Not sure about a festival that doesn't serve beer, but at least there were some nice colors around the countryside.

awesome shots Stan! The Columbines have been in full glory these past two weeks!

Hi. I'd like to share a picture I took of the poppy flowers that are growing in my yard. The people who lived here before me must have planted them. The pic is not nearly as good as all of those above, I took it with my Kodak EasyShare.
http://photos.imageevent.com/mom2pea...e/100_1338.JPG Thanks for letting me share. |
Paddyjoe, the photo of the white bulbs are incredible! Wish I had wildflowers like those around here!
|

The air in the Columbine photos looks so crisp and clear. There are some fantastic photos in this thread.

Went for a ride on my motorcycle, on the side of the road:

Spring is here, again. Snapped these few shots south of Dallas, yesterday.

ah nice saturation tropic, bumped it up a bit yes? :)
The car on the first one really spoils the picture for me, too bad... The second one is very good indeed, the shack brings much needed contrast to the picture. 3rd one has a lot of promise, but I can't help thinking all the time that a different composition could have made it a stunning picture. Maybe b&w with violent sky, subdued colors... the works. |
wildflowers in Hawaii....not fare !

beautiful wild flowers everyone! It's springtime, can't help but feel elated, especially after seeing so many beautiful flowers...
|
Beautiful pictures everyone!

Tis the season to ressurect an old thread.
I had some difficulty with depth of field on this one, a reminder that I need to pick up a macro lens before I run off to Switzerland in a few weeks. Purple Fringe http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...leFringe01.jpg |
Very nice shots people.
If this year is anything like last year, will have shots of tons of them come the first weekend in August. Yet again this year hiking to the headwaters of the middle St. Vrain. Its a long hike (depending on if you can get up the 4X4 road or not its 8-16 miles round trip hiking) so it keeps foot traffic down, and when you get up there its basically impossible to walk without stepping on wildflowers. As for recent stuff, when I get more time later tonight I will post up what I got this weekend. :) Ok.... large post from the weekend trip. Went up to a little pond that is a little ways off the beaten path. The pond is full of lilies, and they are in bloom. The exposure on these is very much a PITA. The RAW files show well over half the shot has clipped shadows... except for the flower. It is half clipped on the shadows, and half blown highlights. lol. There is almost no in between. There is little editing on the first few, and no editing on the last bunch. Hopefully they look as good to everyone as they do to me as I sit editing in the dark. Sorry for the overabundance of one kind of flower, I can't decide which shots I like best. http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/4...teredsmte9.jpg http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/4...01smallxb8.jpg http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2...01smallnp7.jpg From here on there is no editing, just a black frame added. http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/469...01smallsu2.jpg http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/8...01smallpt0.jpg http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/4...01smallkw1.jpg http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/3...12smallkk8.jpg this and the last are the same flower, this one just shot vertical. http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/6...01smallqx3.jpg http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/5...01smalllw4.jpg and finally, flowers that are kinda different. Sadly enough on all except the columbine I didn't even look at where I was aiming. Just held the camera close with a 10mm lens and shot away. http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/7...01smallzn4.jpg http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/9...01smalldg2.jpg http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/9...01smallil9.jpg and finally the last shot. Sorry if I bored you all. lol http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/4...01smallhc7.jpg |
