Post The One That Didn't Get Away!

i know there's some avid fishermen here, but we rarely speak of our caches

since no words can describe your catch, post picures of your catch! Old, new, whatever.. show us the one that didnt get away!

i went fishing this morning, and after a dry spell over the last few weeks, i finally got lucky!

i bagged 2 barracudas, one queenfish and a garfish. i used the live garfish to catch the 2nd barracuda. The 2nd barra i gave to my brother

It looks happy.

A little black drum. Not big enough to keep but the only real fish (catfish don't count) I've caught the last couple months.

how did you cook it fly?

mine was baked in foil in the oven, stuffed with mint and parsley

Fly 12-20-2009 10:41 AM

slice that baby open........(from asshole to breakfast i like to say......just cuz you do cut them from their asshole to where they eat breakfast right?).....yank them guts and gills........then..........

........butter ,garlic, lemon slices and your choice of peppers(red,green....yadayada)......salt and pepper.open fire, tin foil as yourself, and throw it on a cast iron pan..........li'l bit of lake water in there too........sort of a steam effect eh.......maybe 15 mins...........and you're laughin' baby.

Fly 01-01-2010 07:38 PM

how many pounds would that be dlish?

white meat i assume too.........

dlish 01-01-2010 07:46 PM

shalafi and fly invited over to mine for Indian Pamponi.

6 kilograms = 13.2277357 pounds

a great fight on light gear. took me 20 mins to bring in. caught off a sandy beach. kept going for runs every time i brought it within a few metres. luckily (unluckily?) my line snapped as soon as i landed it onto the beach. it had ripped my line to sheds against the rocks.

I really had to put up a fight with this one, but he tasted great with a little pinot and some crusty French bread.

Wow! Some good catches there. I used to LOVE fishing, lazing around in the canoe all day drinking and shooting the breeze...heaven! I used to live in a town with 7 lakes within a mile of my house so it was a hobby I did often...when I used to have the time.

Anybody here enjoy fly fishing? I never got into tying my own flies but I loved wading down a remote river in the middle of the wilderness. Even if I didn't catch anything the atmosphere was worth it, the sound of the river, the animals, the scent of earth and pine...and the precious solitude. Man I REALLY miss fishing. Ill see if I can dig out some old photos, I haven't dug them out since my last move but I must have some here somewhere.
