Merida Carnaval

These photos don't do it justice. But while Mardi Gras will be tomorrow in New Orleans, Merida's main Carnaval parades were this weekend. Here's a few shots from my room-

This didn't come out so well but I like the float. Everyone's included here. Mexico really goes out of it way to care for the elderly or disabled. There was a special needs group of kids that really were great. but kids, so no pix.

thanks! the photos look great considering the lighting and movement conditions.

I had a great time. Well, Friday night I think I had a great time??? They're not into beads here, I got several glow sticks, two t-shirts and a ton of candy. For some reason mostly mini-snickers bars, they must have had a contract with the event organizers. I put the candy in the mini bar freezer and walked around the park and square tossing them out to little kids Sat and Sun. Little kids here all dress up like Halloween for Carnaval. I wish I could post some kids pic's they were great, Batman, Lara Croft and chickens, lots and lots of kids in chicken suits. Why chickens? Beats me but they were really elaborate.

I was pretty disappointed in the photos. I know the lighting and the movement, but they looked so good on the little LCD screen on the camera. I thought I was getting great shots. When I got off the balcony and in the room to the laptop and saw them on the larger screen I thought WTF! The shot with the guy dancing, legs flying in the air is the best I could do. I watched that guy for at least a block and half and he never stopped. I have a ton of shots with large groups of ladies in huge head dresses dancing but they're so blurred there's no point in posting them.

Anyway it was a great time and I'm glad I got to go.

I really like them, Tully. And what's wrong with blurry shots?
