Some images from one of the many wetlands near my home.

That iris is simply breathtaking! Not to mention they're my favorite flower, but still - I love how these are so crisp and clear ... lucky you!

Wonderful clarity and perfect subjects. The only suggestion I'd offer is to try to frame them different to let us the viewer see more of the surrounding area and set a tone for the picture. A lot of times, the striking white of a flower is enhanced when surrounded by a sea of green foliage.
Not sure if you are familiar with the rule of thirds, but it's the theory about where to place subjects in the frame. Keep shooting! |
beautiful, *Nikki*. luscious and saturated.
always nice to see you post in the photo section........ |
Pretty. :)
I never get tired of beautiful flower photographs. ...or birds, lol |
I am really digging that floating flower in the pond/swamp.
I think it looks like a classic lotus, but me be a man and all, I could be way off-base. Either way, great pics there, Nikki; I really appreciate the sharing of these spectacular wildlife shots. |
Very nice. The clarity is outstanding.

Beautiful I think I would spend WAY too much time there.

Anywho, flowers and birds are always a favorite subject. If you can I would suggest getting closer and filling the frame with the flower or whatever. Some lenses can't focus that close but if yours can I think you'll like the result. The only other thing is I'd like to see you go back next time it's an overcast day and take similar pictures, I think the soft light will add to the flowers too. Experiment and see but keep the pictures comin'! |
I think I've been living in the desert too long. This riot of color is almost painful.
Beautiful stuff. |
Regarding the yellow iris, next time bring yarn/string and various kinds of clips (binder clips, paper clips, etc.) so that when you photograph a flower, you can use the string and clips to unclutter the plant. For instance, I would have pulled down the iris just below it at the bottom of the frame so that it wasn't in the shot at all. Cropping this picture to remove it would make it feel too cramped at the bottom and it occupies too substantial an amount of the frame to just clone or blend it out and still allow it to look natural.

I miss living in the sub tropical... the lanai... the January BBQ's....
All fanatastic pictures Nikki! ;) |
