Winter in Bowling Green, OH

It seems that North West Ohio is going to get the brunt of the big storm slamming the Great Lakes. Here are a few pictures.

I feel your pain. I put a yard stick in our front yard at around noon. At last check (9:45pm) there is 11.5 inches of snow with current conditions being freezing rain. Rumor has it tomorrow will bring another 10 or so inches.

I got blizzarded today too. Still snowing and blowing hard (40mph gusts)tonight, 14"....bleah. All I'm doing is drying things, yelling a lot, and feeding folks nonstop. Guess we'll have to pay someone to plow the drive tomorrow...no way we can shovel all that.....sigh.....

I'll have to see what the road conditions are like today. It was really bad out there yesterday.

What am I doing in Ohio?

Looks like you could benefit from a monopod or tripod.

Snow is tricky for light meters. It's more reflective than what the light meter anticipates from typical surfaces, so it tells the light meter is it brighter than it actually is. This causes the light meter to overcompensate for the reflectiveness and tells you to underexpose the snow. Open up a stop or two and the highlights will be less flat and you will have more texture.

I agree with motdakasha. Get a tripod, and for the snowfalling shots, turn off the flash.

Otherwise, enjoy the cold.

And those students will still be riding their bikes to class!!

Hey, I didn't know you were in BG. Love the bars down there. Up in T-town, we got about 8 - 10 in some places. Can't really tell at my house with all the wind blowing.
