Your portfolio
Please read through
I've often thought this would be useful to have on here. I propose that on this thread, people make a portfolio. Lets limit it to ten images. Do as you would for a formal portfolio, they should be your best, but also diverse and unique. They should also be catered to what you enjoy, e.g: if you consider yourself a nature photographer, they should be mostly nature...a portrait artist? then portraits. (And yes, I know how hard it is to pick only 10, but muscle through it) Comments are great, but lets try to keep each individual person's portfolio in one post, so if you take a better picture and want to change it later on, just edit that one post. Anyways, I hope this catches on, because I'm interested to see what people would use as their portfolio, and what they think is their best. As my opinion changes every single day, I know I will keep coming back to edit this...I hope you all do too. Here's mine: http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...neLastHill.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...Uninviting.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...summerdays.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...dor/moutnS.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...og/Longing.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2.../bluebooby.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...g/Headwind.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...sallylight.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...mans/sting.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...loosefootS.jpg |
Those are some amazing shots, there, shpoop. I was reading the exif data on that first shot and noticed that the focal length was 300mm. What lens did you use?
The main suggestion I would make would be to do a little crop on your second photo of the communications tower since there is so much black at the bottom. I was thinking a crop a bit below the bottom of the sign. Aside from that, I really like that shot. I like this idea of a portfolio. I'm in the process of arranging galleries for my website, which is almost completed. I'll try to get some shots up here tomorrow. |
Yes I concur. I'd like to see more shadow detail on the second shot.
|
The first shot was with a cannon 300mm (I can't get to the lens right now, but its their cheapest 300mm, an old lens), and it was on a tripod, from the ground.
More shadow detail eh? I'll work on that |
Amazing shots..
That is one good portfolio. Do you do this professionally? Il post mine soon. Making myself a portfolio to try and get into a photography major. |
Not me. No way I could follow that act.
|
Nope, not professionaly...never even taken a class. Somehow a digital camera made it into my hands about two years ago, and I've just never been able to let them go since. It's amazing how much you can teach yourself when it's something you really enjoy.
Oh c'mon mtsgsd, it's just for fun....we're all interested. Who knows what ideas you'll inspire in others' minds. |
Very nice. I like the 2nd photo the best, don't crop it.
|
Thanks for the great comments guys....but I really did want to see some of your organized portfolios!! Just throw together what you consider your 10 best!
|
Quick question , how much photoshop work did you do on those images?
|
I think the second shot is fantastic. The blue of the sky is a stark contrast to the darkness of the picture. It's very creepy in a good way! Great picture!
|
SWELL PICS...............amazingly emotion packed, almost brooding and dark feeling!

Absolutely stunning... Thanks for sharing.

Wow, great job. I especially like the second shot. Nice job of making interesting pictures of some common sites.
