Abandoned 112 Year Old Michelin Factory
Michelin tires had their main US factory in Milltown. NJ. Two years ago, it caught fire. It's been mostly empty for decades and the town is taking plans for its demolition and redevelopment, so I'm attempting to get as many shots as I can. Here's a few from today's visit:

I'm just imagining how neat it would be to go inside from the look of the building from the outside.... any chance there is an open door?

I'd be suprised if they'd demo the whole thing - that brick is beautiful- and 100 year old brick makes for gorgeous expensive townhouses... :) Especially with those huge windows (looks a lot like the old mill that they converted into condos in Little Falls right on the falls)

More green door! Went back today-it was cloudy so no sun glare and I had my tripod so no blurred shots:

Very nice NG!
I bet they take the brick and put it in lofts or something. Sometimes I wish they'd just let old buildings hang around. Much more dignified than being turned into lofts. |
