Newborn snatched in carpark, mother bashed
A three week old baby has been snatched from its mother in carpark of a suburban shopping centre in Melbourne, Australia. The kidnappers bashed the mother and sprayed capsicum spray in her face before snatching the baby from the mother's arms. It was the mother's first outing since the birth of the baby.
Sickening, horrifying stuff. Source |
Something doesn't seem right about that... it's a nasty crime, but I dunno, seems very outlandish that someone would do this just for kicks.
|
The police have very clear video surveillance footage of the kidnappers, so that may help. The media have mentioned gangland connections (the father is related to an underworld crime figure) but they have discounted that (at least publicly).
|
If the dad has mob connections, maybe it's retribution for something?
The connection just seems too coincidental |
Huh...so much for gun laws.......

They found the baby in an abandoned house this morning (Mon), healthy and hungry. They kidnappers had shaved its head.
Two people are "assisting police with their inquiry" after overwhelming public information. The footage on the news showed the mother holding her child...the look of happiness and relief on her face was palpable. |

just curious , how would a gun have assisted in that situation. if she was carrying a gun was she suppose to shoot (after being maced in the face) at the perps running off with her baby? |

Amusing footnote to this story...
The father of the stolen baby has underworld ties, and was noticeably absent from the extensive TV coverage for days. Finally he appeared when the couple who took the baby made a court appearance - the father threatened them in court and was generally a little pissed off. I really don't envy their time in prison. Anywho, it turns out he has this whole other family in another state, and was only caught out when his second family saw him on TV at the hearing. Talk about a stroke of bad luck. |
