The point of this is that you cannot ever prove the past ever happened, if I drop a glass on the ground, I can never prove that it wasn't created on the ground in pieces in the first place. Any photos of the glass on the table were simply created at the same time. Acham's(sp) razor can't help here: is it simpler that the world was created billions of years ago and went through incredably unlikly situations to arrive where it is, or is it simpler that the world was created ten minutes ago in a flash of light. I will use this if I'm ever on trial for murder to get reasonable doubt from the jury. "I never killed anyone, I was never arrested, I was never born, but the entire world was created five minutes ago and you just don't know it." I'd like to see the prosecution prove me wrong.

Does it really matter at all? I mean, you just crashed your car into a random group of people... Do you think they'll care that you didn't actually hit them, but were planted on top of just a second ago them by, well, something?

You can't prove what has happened in the past simply because those who write it aren't telling the whole truth and could simply be lying.

Interesting question. Reminds me of Lathe of Heaven.

For the world to be created yesterday requires there to be an intelligent power overseeing the creation, though, so that cuts the theory out for me. Although, even if the world was created yesterday, so what? I've got all these memories in my head that correspond with everyone elses, so the past happened for me, no matter when it was created.

It matters diddly squat whether the Universe is actually billions of years old or appeared five minutes ago with all the appearance of a Universe that is billions of years old (in my opinion, Occhams Razor leans toward the former rather than the latter). For all intents and purposes, the Universe is the same either way.

If the Universe was created five minutes ago, then you are only five minutes old. Your memories are false and your identity has been determined by the entity that created the Universe. Do you really know who you are?

that's ridiculous
i could type this reply very slowly so that it takes more than 10 minutes to complete and when i'm done read it and realize that it was more than 10 minutes ago that i started

i suppose is it possible but would it mean the world is continuously created over and over again with all of the 'past' just put into peoples memories each time adding whatever else happened since the last time it was created? and what would the point of that be?
