It really depends on which way the politics go in this country. If our next president actually has some kind of diplomatic skills, and realizes that there's no such thing as winning a war on terrorism, then maybe not soon. But if we keep going down this path that Bush II has put us on, definite possibility within the next 6-10. It'd be awfully nice if it didn't trigger WW III, wouldn't it?

The day a nuclear weapon is launched against any nation is the day humanity's time on Earth ends. Mutually assured destruction anyone?
You nuke me, I nuke you, you nuke me again, me and my mate nuke you, you and two mates nuke me and my mate, me and three more mates nuke what left of you... etc. It'd all be over incredibly quickly. |

It's only a matter of time before we get nuked, in whatever way it happens. I said 4-5 years before we see a blast in the US.

If 1 nuclear weapon is launched FROM anywhere TO anywhere, it is truly "the end of the world as we know it."
There will be retailiation, and in the retaliation will be additional attacks, and attacks from allies factor in, and attacks from allies of the aggressors.... most likely a quarter to a half of the world's population will die instantly, and soon about only 1/4 of the world's population will remain- between rioting, looting, mass violence, radiation, fires, lack of water/electricity/food and THEN there's the matter of the world going into "nuclear winter" where freezing temperatures will kill crops, animals, and those without proper shelter... but i'm not paranoid... i'm just knowledgable of the consequences. I hope those with control over the launch buttons are as well. |

I don't see a Nuke war ever happening. There maybe a dirty (suitcase) bomb go off as a terrorist thing but as a nation to nation thing, won't happen.
War (no matter what the populace is fed as to the reason) is ALWAYS about power and the acquisition of wealth or the defense of power and wealth. There is no wealth or power to be had if you nuke the world and destroy everything including yourself. The only way someonme would set nukes off is if they had lost all power and decided that if they couldn't have anything noone could.

I just love people who use the excuse "I use/do this because I LOVE the feeling/joy/happiness it brings me" and expect you to be ok with that as you watch them destroy their life blindly following. My response is, "I like to put forks in an eletrical socket, just LOVE that feeling, can't ever get enough of it, so will you let me put this copper fork in that electric socket?" |
