Sleep...showering?
So I was going to sleep around 12 midnight as per the norm for me and I went to sleep and was asleep for I assume about 45 minutes- an hour and I wake up and I'm in the shower. I don't know why I was there, but the water was on and turned to like a perfect temperature. I don't think I was in there for too long because my skin wasn't all pruney and the water hadn't gone cold.
So I finished my shower and went back to sleep, thinking "Hey I guess I saved myself a bit of time in the morning." Thing is that I have no past record of sleep walking or anything like that. Any thoughts? |
I talk in my sleep alot but never really sleep walk, there have been a couple of occassions where I have gotten up in the middle of the night and gotten dressed..i dont remember until the next morning when I wake up with my clothes on..Getting into the shower is crazy, I think most sleep walking is attributed to stress or a lot on your mind.
|
talk about a wet dream :) i know its corny, but i had to
|
You have no past history...that you know of!
Very strange. That is some severe sleepwalking. You might keep some stuff in front of your front door to keep you from getting out and into your car in such a state. Unless you do this a lot, just log it and forget it. As for myself, I have been known to laugh in my sleep. Go figure. |
Some researchers think that sleep walking is a very mild sign of scitzophrenia, but that's just walking around the room or something but going into the shower and turning the water on without being conscious is pretty wild...be careful
|
THAT'S severe? :) Ok that sounded moronic
I've done as much as turn on my computer, disable the house alarm system (waking up everyone in the house), get out a sleeping bag, brought all my sheets to the laundry room, and so on... I have problems :) |
I'll sleepwalk every now and then. Usually I'll just wander the house and do things like turn on the T.V. or pull food out of the kitchen cabinets. I have to be under allot of stress thou. I did it the most (three times) after my brother died.
|
That's nothing. I'm a wrestler and we cut weight a lot. I have friends that have to be essentially tied down the night before a tournament because they sleep eat and sleep drink. I'm not talking like grabbing food next to the bed either. I'm talking going to their bag and getting putting or getting a cup and filling it with water. I've even heard of some going to other rooms to get other people's food.

When my wife (then just girlfriend) and I first moved in together, she used to tell me stories of my sleepwalking antics the night before. My favorite one was when I apparently got up, got dressed, put my shoes on, and was heading to the store to buy M&M's. I was determined to have popcorn and M&M's for a snack, and we had no M&M's in the house. My wife had to nicely steer me back to bed so I wouldn't go wandering out in traffic like that. :) She was scared to death at the time, but we laugh about it now.
Thankfully, I haven't done that in a good ten years. :D |
i recently had an experience kinda like that. i was over at one of my friends places, she shares an apartment with some other girl. i had been drinking some, not a whole lot, and fell asleep on the couch. my other friend was also drinking and he fell asleep on this bed type thing on the floor. i woke up in the morning on the roomates bed (no, she wasnt in the bed with me), and my friend woke up on the couch that i fell asleep on. the thing is, to get there i had to walk down the hall, open a door, and then close it behind me....all in complete darkness.
i was COMPLETELY confused and baffled about how i had gotten there. i literaly said "WHAT THE FUCK, WHERE THE HELL AM I?" when i woke up. i'm generally a pretty light sleeper, so i wake up when people are walking around and i never EVER sleep walk or sleep talk. |
That's funny. We used to have to barricade my little brother in his room because he'd walk through the house, unlock the front door, and go outside. This is when he was 6 or 7 or so... kinda freaky. I, however, talk in my sleep, and have apparently said some pretty embarrassing things!

So it's agreed taht sleep showering is odd?
|
Yes, I think it has been agreed that sleep showering is odd. If you live with anyone, ask them if they've seen or heard you moving around at night. If it is a one time thing, hey, funny story! If it happens a lot more, maybe something else is going on subconciously that you need to figure out. Try putting something on the doorknob to your room that would fall off and let you know in the morning if you walked around in your sleep again.
|
reminds me of this one time that I woke up like any other morning, took a shower, got out of the shower, got dressed... all was normal until while dressing I looked at my watch. 10:30 AM. I had gotten into the shower at about 9 and taken a relatively quick one. I don't remember any lapse in time at all, and both times my watch was perfectly correct. I wasn't pruny, and the shower wasn't cold. I think somewhere, somehow, I just lost at least 50 or so minutes in time.... just like that.

Maybe you fell into the Matrix
|
When I was younger I would stand at the top of the steps in my house then jump out into space, amazingly I always hit the bottom and landed on my feet.

My parents told me one time when i was like 3 - 4 i fell down the stairs when i was sleeping walking, but i brought my pillow with me and didnt get hurt.
|
Ive woken up in the bath before now. Its scary when that shit happens. I worry that i will walk out of my house one night naked (i normally take my night wear off when i sleep walk) and get killed by a car or something. :(

About a year ago this December I woke up when I stepped into a shower. I was sleep deprived due to studying for finals, and iI stayed up later then planned. As I went to bed I said to myself "ok, I'll just have a shower to wake me up before the test".
I should have got about 4 hours of sleep before my alarms went off. But less than an hour later, I'm shocked awake by the shower. I had no recollection of getting out of bed, putting my robe on, walking down the hall, downstairs, and into the bathroom. The bathroom light was on, but the rest of the route was dark when I went back to bed. It kinda freaked me out, so I stayed awake and studied. |
That's weird man...it's never happened to me before. I've walked around half asleep many times but that's about it.
|
I fell asleep in the shower... woke up to freezing cold water and dry wrinkly skin.
It was so weird. |
this thread made me laugh so hard! thanks for the chuckles.
I've never had a personal experience with sleepwalking, but my mother, when she was a girl was an avid fan. On one occasion her grandmother (who was living with the family) found my mother outside in nothing but her nightgown. When granny question my then adolescent mother as to what she was doing, she answered, "I was picking you flowers grandma." The funny part is that it was January and there was over a foot of snow on the ground. Neither the cold nor the wet woke up me mam, standing barefoot in the drift. |
it gets dangerous when you sleep eat, more over when your subconcius decide you need to cook.
if you are concernded they have sleep centers where they will study your sleep habits and can diagnose your sleep disorder. |
one time i woke up sittin on a toilet with my shirt in the water, i have no idea how i got there, very wierd stuff
