UFO sightings?????

How many of you guys have ever seen what you thought was a UFO??

I've seen two, that I believed to be UFO's.

The first was when I was about twelve years old. A bunch of my friends and I were walking across a field to play some football one night when this big orange ball zoomed across the sky, turned green, then red, and then disappeared. That shit was crazy. Not everyone in the group saw it, but at least three or four of us did. The others just weren't looking up.

The other one could've just been a trick of the light, but I saw a saucer shaped object floating slowly across the sky one night. But what got me was that it appeared to be, I shit you not, pink. A girl friend of mine who lives across town from me told me the next day she saw some weird looking pink thing go across the sky the night before, so I don't believe I'm crazy.

What about the rest of yall?

Memalvada 07-31-2003 05:10 PM

Yeah, I've seen them a couple of times...

The first time I was driving in my car, and I saw this orange light in the sky. It started speeding upwards and out of sight.

The other time (and I was with my dad when we saw it), there were two lights wery high in the sky, hovering close to each other. Then they started to move at an increasing speed, intil some hills blocked our view...

GakFace 07-31-2003 05:25 PM

Alright, I thought i posted these before.... (probly on 3.0) So here are my two that I can remember.

First I remember driving home from class on day last year. It was about 7:40PM.. yet still light out. The sun was down, but not out. The moon was already rising. So I know it wasn't the moon. What I saw was something very small in the sky. I didn't appear to move as i constantly looked up to test the thought that it was 'hovering' in one spot. The thing that really got to me, was that is was Metallic and EXTREMELY reflective. This wasn't a blimp, I would have been able to make SOMETHING from it.. but just silver metallic color with light being relfected off of it. The only thought in my mind is that it some some sort of craft unknown to the populace.

My other experience was last summer. I got out of work.. 12:30 AM. It was a'stormin' and a'blazin'. I was now hyped. I rolled my windows down, as I jammed to Ozzy and... watched the Lighting Show. There no no trees for at least a mile on either side of the road. (its lots of farm land) Suffice to say the lightning was insanely spectacular.. A night I'll remember solely for the great show the lightning gave me. But then I saw something that didn't go with the storm. Mind you, that I have been watching the lightning like mad. Watching it shoot from the skies, seeing in which directions it goes... how fast it would go.. all this just sitting in my mind as I drove by amazed. What I saw was in the distance... a LARGE Oval-shaped mass. It was Fire-Red/Orange. Now I couldn't SEE the object as it was behind clouds, but this wasn't any lightning in the background, seemed too concentrated. To top that off, it moved HORIZONTAL to the ground. Now it was an object moving FORWARD... and didn't move any other way.. It didn't fit how the lightning was moving that night, and again it was rather huge for lightning. One more point. It moved................. FAST. Faster than any of the lightning I had seen. Again I remind you, I was watching it for a good 10 minutes or so.. NOTHING moved that fast. It would move in "sections" if you will. I'd see the orange mass in the background as it would (the light) "flutter" each "flutter" was a section. It went so fast I saw about 5 or 6 sections.. and then it was gone. I have no clue what it was. But it most definately moved faster than anything the storm could do, and was quite large... couldn't be distant lightning as it didn't flash and go.. it was there.

Then I got freaked out, and started to think about it, and got an eerie feeling of someone watching me... that made the drive home fun... Eventually the feeling faded though.

Those are the ones I remember quite vividely.

Rodney 07-31-2003 05:32 PM

Yeah, it was after midnight years ago and I was driving off home on the freeway when I saw a BIG, BIG ball of light in the distance descending slowly over a range of hills; whatever it was, it wasn't your normal airplane or helicopter lights. It eventually disappeared behind the ridge, which was about five-six miles away.

That said, that particular ridge was part of a rather large military base in Northern California. So draw your own conclusions.

Zargix 07-31-2003 06:56 PM

I remember one time, I was out kinda late, and I was tired, so i might have just been hallucinating, and I saw this thing that was too big to be a star, and too small to be anything else, go across the sky. I followed it for as long as I could, but it dissappeared behind a wooded area.

yvan_eht_nioj 07-31-2003 10:58 PM

November 26 2000 - me and my dad saw 2 pointsource-light objects fly around eachother at high speed all over the sky.

August 13 2001 - I was outside on a trampoline stargazing when i saw what looked to be 4 red orbs appear from nowhere and fly out of site in less than 5 seconds.

2 weeks ago - a star appeared out of nowhere in a bright flash, like a sci-fi spaceship coming out of hyperspace or something, then proceded to fade out as it moved north.

All of these are probably very explainable, but i thought it was odd when i first saw it

bermuDa 08-01-2003 12:56 AM

my opinion is if there's indeed other intelligent life in the universe, they wouldn't be anywhere near this ball of garbage.

liquid_dreams 08-01-2003 09:12 PM

i havent seen one but eventyally there going to kill me because i called them collect..... sorry lost my mind but i think that there out there

GunslingerCold 08-01-2003 09:26 PM

Once, me and a couple of friends were jumping on a trampoline when one of my friends said he saw something in the sky. Me and my other friend didnt see it but he seemed to be telling the truth. I always miss these interesting things.

Markaz 08-01-2003 10:43 PM

I've never seen any, but here are my thoughts on em. I truely do not believe we have been visited, other then maybe they drove by. None of this "It was hovering over ma truck!!!" shit. I'll bet it is all just government stuff. If we were made there has to be others, and the universe is bigger then a fucking bread box so I'd doubt we've been visited. And for people who saw matallic objects really high, it was probobly a private jet. They go up really high and shine brightly because of the reflection and stuff. Oh well, just think - one day we (if aliens have visited us) can be the freaks scaring the piss out of other worlds! That'd be funnn.

MSD 08-02-2003 10:29 AM

I'd like to think that there are alien visitors coming to meet us, but I think that it's unlikely. I would love to see contact made with another planet's people in my lifetime.

A few of the stories here sound like things that can be explained, and I'll offer some possible explanations, and let you decide. I welcome additional information that would clarify, support, or refute my thoughts on what these may be. After all, UFO's don't have to be spacecraft, just unidentified.

crow_daw:

Your first sighting may have been caused by ball lightning, or swamp gas balls, which appeared to change color due to atmospheric conditions. I'll give that about a 3.5/10 certainty, as it doesn't really fit the description too well.

Memalvada:

Your secod sighting, the two bright lights, could have been illumination flares used for military training and operations. 6/10 certainty.

GakFace:

First sighting, most likely a mylar baloon catching the light at an altitude where it still was able to reflect light from the sun. 8/10 Certainty

Second one, the most plausible explanation seems to be ball lightning, but only to about a 3/10 certainty.

Rodney:

I'm going to say that, given the hills, the slow descent, and the miliary base, that there's a 9.5/10 chance that you were watching military illumination flares.

Zargix: I'll need more information (distance, speed,) but I'll say that it was probably a low helicopter with a searchlight. 5/10

yvan:

Not sure about the first, but the second and third, like many, can be said with about a 4/10 (first) and 6/10 (second) certainty that it could have been ball lightning.

CSflim 08-02-2003 10:59 AM

I once thought I saw a UFO, but I was wrong, turns out that swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

08-02-2003 02:26 PM

i saw one a few years ago when i was down in the kentucky area big yellowish white light in the sky just floated above the tree line for a good hour then zoomed off

and last year saw another one down in the same area it was shaped kinda like a pole but kept changing colors like glitter or some shit it was moving verry slowly through the sky then all of a sudden it just dissapeared entire encounter lasted about 20 min

sadistikdreams 08-02-2003 06:37 PM

UFO just means UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT.

Whether you saw an alien spacecraft of not, is a different thing.

grumpyolddude 08-02-2003 11:01 PM

On more than one occasion, I've witnessed unusual lights appearing to move in unnatural and unexplainable ways. I've seen several when alone and at least two occurances that I shared with others (while sober).

Most provocative was the time when some friends and I were driving during winter several years ago. A light for which we could not determine a source started pacing us. We thought at first it might be a very high powered snowmobile running through a farmers field. After a few minutes, however, the light streaked ahead of us at amazing speed, swerved out of the field onto the road and appeared to hover as if waiting for us to catch up. The light grew brighter as we approached and we grew more than a little apprehensive. We slowed a bit, and the light shot up into the night at a sharp angle and great speed. We stopped the car completely to watch the streak of light until it complete disappeared from view.
We were totally stunned, to say the least. We headed for the nearest bar and couldn't stop talking about it. For months it was a major part of uor conversations.

This was not ball lightning, swamp gas or a weather balloon. Whatever was creating the light was under intelligent control. This episode, more than any other, convinced me that the other sightings I've had are real. I don't believe that the US government was testing secret aircraft in rural Michigan in the dead of winter. I believe that we have been and continue to be visited.

GakFace 08-03-2003 10:42 PM

MYLAR!!!!!!!!!!!! I keep forgetting about that stuff.. Yeah thats very plausable.

Ball of lighting? How big can they be? And as for a BALL.. can it have an oval-esque shape?

Atropos4 08-04-2003 11:25 AM

I'm a star gazer so I've seen them....Usually there are two when I see them...

Markaz 08-04-2003 11:56 PM

I also gaze at the stars for hours and hours every week. But everything I see is easily explainable. :(

Lebell 08-05-2003 09:35 AM

Strangely enough, I saw my first UFO last night.

I was at the pool last night reading and looked up at the Eastern ski. It was about 8:00 pm so it was getting dark but wasn't. In the sky above the mountains was a bright light I normally would have taken to be a planet (too bright for a star and not blinking). As I looked, it was moving from south to north in a straight line.
This confused me because then I thought it was an airplane, but airplanes have strobs and this was a solid white light. It faded as it faded as it began to pass out of sight behind a pine tree that was in front of me, but I stood up and moved to find it again it was gone.

I've no idea what it was.

Flesh 08-06-2003 07:21 PM

I've never seen a UFO, but I kinda want to .... er.. from a safe distance of course ;)

MSD 08-06-2003 08:03 PM

Gak, ball lightning is quite rare, but it can range in size from a few inches to a few feet. It can be oval-shaped, spherical, or star-like. If you've ever seen it up close, it's easily the most amazing sight you'll ever see. It moves in ways that make it seem intelligently controlled, and if it touches an electrical ground, it will either dissipate or explode violently.

tehblaed 08-09-2003 11:17 PM

Probably one of the only instances of real actual ball lightning being caught on film.

TwistedFate 08-09-2003 11:54 PM

Great photo!! Whoever took that has the pic of a lifetime.

orange monkeyee 08-12-2003 09:04 PM

shooting stars ( orange and yellow and fast and dissappearing quickly) are commonly mistaken for UFOs. Ive watched enough shootin stars in my short time .

bernadette 08-12-2003 10:27 PM

oh yeah little green men land in my back yard every friday night. we've got a steady date thing going on. they like my single girlfriends. they bring this out this world excellent wine & i cook them dinner. they probe my dogs. it's all great fun.

*rolls eyes*

348Dav 08-12-2003 11:38 PM

So how many of you who claim to have seen UFO's believe in them or aliens?

muckluck 08-13-2003 09:59 AM

I belive in UFO's and aliens. Just because of how big the universe is and how small we are. And i belive we only seen 1% of the whole universe through telescopes (not sure if that is true). And i belive i did see a UFO. I was driving home one night from shopping and i saw a strange triangle shape hovering in the air.

It was much, MUCH larger than that...

Foopius2 08-14-2003 12:47 PM

i saw this shootin star that was purple and orage go all the way across the sky till it was out of view, but im pretty sure it was just a shootin star that was closer to us and burning up in the atmosphere.

h2ogo69 08-15-2003 12:33 AM

isaw round lights hovering a few streets down form me once

ssander9 08-19-2003 08:10 PM

I have seen a few, used to be very into that kinda thing. In fact I saw one here in Florida last month, watched it for about ten minutes. Moved very quickly across the sky, abruptly stopped and hovered in one place for about 5 minutes, then shot straight up and out of sight...very strange. Looked to be round and glowing white or grayish. The good thing was I wasn't the only one who saw it, they had a couple other calls that night that saw the same thing.

Aliens? Beats me, but it wouldn't surprise me.

mastboy4 08-20-2003 09:31 AM

never had a ufo sighting, lookin forward to it though :P

fik 08-20-2003 05:16 PM

Those "UFO's" you've seen may have been ARV's (Alien Reproduction Vehicles), crafts made by the government replicating actual alien technology, or it was actual aliens. They are capable of super-luminal speeds (faster than the speed of light). Using zero-point energy, the same energy thats surrounds us everywhere, to control gravity (anti-gravity).

If these technoolgies were declassified and used publicly, almost all poverty and pollution problems will be a thing of the past. We are already using a tiny bit of these alien technologies in our everyday lives, such as infared, night vision, computer chips, lasers, microwaves, bullet-proof vests, cell phones, television, and much much more. All these new technologies suddenly popping up out of nowhere since the 1940's-1950's? (ahem, about the time period of the Roswel incident)

It is believed that the secret government is actually communicating with extraterrestrial intelligence.
The US government is spending over $50 billion a year on the study and production of this technology.

Still skeptical?

http://www.disclosureproject.com/

They have over 400 witnesses and people who were actually part of the secret projects testifying to their experiences on video.

http://www.topsecrettestimony.com/6monthsummary.htm is a list of 47 of the witnesses.

kalashnikov 08-21-2003 12:25 PM

Thank you sadistikdreams! I hate when people ask things like "do you believe in UFO's?" UFO does NOT mean an alien space ship, rather something, anything, you see in the sky you can't readily explain.

Personally I think, whether aliens are zooming around somewhere else in the universe or not (yeah, I believe that), there are more than plenty earthly phenomena, either man made or natural, to explain UFOs before you bring up aliens.
Oh, and the tooth fairy takes your baby teeth from under your pillow.
My experience with UFO's was in seventh grade on halloween (which obviously added to the weirdness). I was in the car and saw up in the sky 4 balls of light, moving in formation and far to fast to be planes. I found out later through observation they were spotlights against the clouds.

ssander9 08-22-2003 08:00 AM

Forks, can you get me a date that this happened?

That is awesome, even if it is or isn't true was a very good read.

marz 08-22-2003 10:57 AM

Ok on Sept 11, i got off early from work, and went straight home. Just to be doing something instead of watching the terrorist attacks on tv, my son and i decided to go pass football. We was passing football like we always do, and i see something that looked like a large balloon, but it was high, but not airliner high. And i thought that was really strange because there was'nt suppose to be any air traffic. It was moving pretty slow, and worked its way all the way across the sky until it disappeared. It was probably a weather balloon, but i could'nt say for sure. Thats the closest thing for a ufo story i have. Wish i had more.

GakFace 08-22-2003 05:18 PM

Forks: Amazing story.. I'd love to say i would've waved to them, but I'm sure i'd be as dumbfounded as you.

Fik: I thank you for you knowledge.. AND your links!!!
Yeah, We're a people known to backword engineer Anything and Everything until we understand it.

My whole thing is... Where are all the Einsteins? I haven't really seen anyone of that calibur lately, it seems if there ever is they get "snatched" up... fun time, aye?

omnigod 08-23-2003 12:55 PM

I saw an UFO since i didnt know what it was.

I was outside when a meteor shower was supposed to occur, and i saw a bright object moving into the meteor shower(i think the meteors were going south, the object headed north) and it was too high to be a plane, and there was no sound produced also.

The only thing i could think it was, was the international space station, anyone know what direction it orbits earth around?

GakFace 08-24-2003 01:52 AM

i remember seeing when a sattelite was being reflected back to earth. The one thing I remember is that it moved by ...... slowly.

omnigod 08-25-2003 07:39 AM

The one i saw was scooting pretty quickly.
