The man in black...

If anyone is interested in any way in Johnny Cash, i STRONGLY recommend his new 'autobiopic', I walk the line. It is very good.
I have been listening to his songs for a couple of years, and all night long too.

Johnny and Roy Orbison were so underrated and lost in the shuffle, yet they inspired millions and influenced so many others.

To both men in black, RIP you'll not be forgotten.

To those who have seen the Cash movie, I'm wondering: do you think the makers lost something in leaving out his "religious side" if you will, or do you think they were simply trying to focus on and tell one part of his story? BTW: I'm asking based on a review I heard of the film. I haven't seen the movie and probably won't go. No time. I might rent it to watch depending on reviews. Thanks!

When Johnny first began, he starting off singing gospel songs, but the producer wanted some orginal stuff. Most of religious side came out after he married June Carter and got a little older. Spoiler: The movie takes place up to the point where he asks June to marry him. Excellent movie btw.

I love Johnny Cash. He was a big influence on why I play guitar. I'm not that big on country, but Cash was something special. His songs tell stories and have feeling. I love the American recordings that Rick Rubin produced. The covers are great! Sharp as a razor, steady as a train.

I love the five disc american box set, unearthed. Great, great covers... Pocahontas (Neil Young song)... Father and Son with Fionna Apple (Cat Stevens song)... Gentle On My Mind (Glenn Campbell song)... many more. Plus there's a whole disc of gospel hymns called From My Mother's Song Book, basically a bunch of music that he sang as a child.

It's important to remember that Walk the Line isn't just Johnny's story, it's Johnny and June's story. Spoiler: The movie shows us where Johnny came from, how he was interested in June from a very young age and the turmoil he went through before they got married. It didn't really touch on his religious side because during that turmoil he wasn't overly religious..

Very good film.

During the scene on the porch where he and his band were practicing you can almost see my house. If the tree wasn't there behind the bass player you'd see it.

Also, the drummer for my band plays the drum tech for Elvis' drummer. You can see him briefly in the background between the change out.

Story of my life ... always in the background and obscured by foliage.
