A blog I read has their Random Friday, with what they call the Friday Random 10.

Here's mine today: "Dead to the World" Nightwish "Mad World Forever", dj BC "Ecce quod natura", Anonymous 4 "That Face", Mel Brooks (the Producers) "Tribute to the Greatest Song in the World", Tenacious D "40 Shades of Blue", Black 47 "Oops... I Did It Again", M-slick da ninjA "The Golden Age", Hiroshima "Jumpin' At The Woodside", Lambert Hendricks & Bavan "She Makes Me Feel Big", The Fools Song I like Most: "Dead to the World", not for the message, but for the power. Song I like Least: Probably the Hiroshima piece, which is sort of a fusion jazz thing which only serves as aural wallpaper. Good wallpaper, though. Favorite Album on this List: Tough tough tough. I'll say The Fools, the album World Dance Party. It is strongly connected to good college memories, especially road trips. (And the M-slick da ninjA track is from Dictionaraoke, for those of you playing along in my other thread.) |
cool, I think these are fun. Hope none of my embarrassing songs come up, but I agree to go with the rules and lay it all out...
1. "The End Of Everything" Chris Isaak 2. "Turn It Out" Death From Above 1979 3. "The Last Of The English Roses" Babyshambles 4. "Danny X" Faithless 5. "Long Black Veil" Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds 6. "Acrylic Afternoons" Pulp 7. "Dance Of The Dream Man" Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks Soundtrack) 8. "Tell The Boys" Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter 9. "A Different Feeling" Avalanches 10. "Concerning The UFO Sighting Near Highland Il" Sufjan Stevens Fav song: I will say "Long Black Veil" simply due to the fact I cannot keep myself from singing along to it EVER. Least fav: Prob the Chris Isaak song. I like Chris Isaak quite a bit, but this song is not one of my favorites. Fav album on list: ohh maaan. Depends on the mood, my current mood would go with the moody rough-edges cover songs which make up the Nick Cave album "Kicking Against The Pricks." 2nd place is the Twin Peaks soundtrack... |
Oh man. These are fun.
1. Kids With Guns - Gorillaz 2. Concrete Jungle - The Specials 3. Ruglen Holon - Aphex Twin 4. Love You Do - The Beatles 5. Wrong Way - Sublime 6. Open Your Eyes - United States of Electronica 7. The Boogie That Be - Black Eyed Peas 8. Who Dares Wins - The Streets 9. Illegal Tender - Louis the XIV 10. Compton's N the House - NWA Fav? Illegal Tender. I just love the attitude, I guess. Least Fav? Ruglen Holon, just because all the songs on that album are really similar. Fav Album? Probably Demon Days by Gorillaz. |
I'll join.
1. Creek Mary's Blood-Nightwish 2. Swansong for a Raven-Cradle of Filth 3. Overture- Notre Dame de Paris (Musical soundtrack) 4. Days- The Rasmus 5. Nowadays- Chicago (Musical soundtrack) 6. Pleasure is All Mine- Björk Fav song- The Great Gig in the Sky for sure! Least fav song would probably be the Intro of the Absolution Album (well it's kinda pointless without other songs from the album isn't it?) Fav Album- surprisingly, at this moment I like Einstürzende Naubauten's album '1/2 Mensch' more than 'The Dark Side of the Moon'. So, '1/2 Mensch' that is. |

I have two playlists. Here's one.
1. Brotha Lynch Hung - Reachin' For Fame 2. Eminem - Real Slim Shadie 3. R. Kelly - Happy People 4. Brotha Lynch Hung - Bleeding House Mystery 5. Andre 3000 - Love In War 6. Brotha Lynch Hung - Till Somebody 7. Snoop Doggy Dogg - Gin and Juice 8. Big Boi and Dre Present - Crumblin' Erb? 9. Xzibit - Fuckin' You Right 10. Bone Thugz in Harmony - Crept and we Came That's rap, I opened the winamp and thats what popped up first. Rock one.. rocks. I listen to it more. Edit: Favorites, I forgot those. Most 8. I like this one because it's real laid back and chill. Least 2. Over played and I really didn't like it in the first place. Dunno what it's doing on my playlist. |
I'll give it another go.
Spin, spin, spin the wheel of mu-sic See how fast the bastard turns. 1: DJ Phantasy - Gimme da Gal 2: The Clash - Capitol Radio 3: Fatboy Slim - Don't Let The Man Get You Down 4: A.G. - Party Groove 5: Leftfield - Original (Live Dub) 6: A Tribe Called Quest - Award Tour 7: Public Enemy - Terminator X Speaks With His Hands 8: Freestylers - Feel The Panic 9: DJ Yoda - Creatures, Breakin' & Names 10: Grandmaster Flash - Message, The (aka The Message) A lot more 'me' than the last time. Favourite Song is a toss up between The Message and Gimme da Gal - at the moment it's Gimme da Gal but I don't think it'll have the long term appeal of The Message. Least Favourite Song is... probably... Capitol Radio. It's not a bad song but it's the worst on the list. Favourite Album is a compilation called Hip Hop, Don't Stop (The Greatest), by DJ Prime Cuts of The Scratch Perverts (tracks 4 & 10). |

I love heart - but the lyrics of this song are just strange. Favorite Album: Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic This is actually kinda fun leaving my IPod on random play ratherthan just using one of my playlists... I'm hearing stuff (some good, some really awful) that i had forgotten I had. Although I think I have the uncoolest IPod ever with the dorkiest taste in music ever... |
I think I might want to borrow Zephyr66's iPod. Not quite sure why, but it looks like it might be interesting for a while. Also, I need to find some Apocalypica, I keep forgetting to check that out.
Round 3: "Take my Soul", White Trash "Fight Fiercely, Harvard", Tom Lehrer "Invitation", The Ritz "Mr. Bowling Shoe Giver Outer", Bud Light Presents "Kiss Me", Sweeney Todd (musical) "Kiss Him Goodbye", The Nylons "That Was Your Mother", Paul Simon "She Loves You", Peter Sellers "Smokin' In the Boys Room", Motley Crue "Crimson and Clover", Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Wow, that run was weirder than my other two rounds. I like the back to back "Kiss" songs. Favorite Song: "Kiss Him Goodbye"; I think that's their only song that got radio play. Least Favorite Song: "Take my Soul". White Trash was kind of pre-3rd wave ska, more like a punk band with horns, although the guitar was kind of 70s funk. A couple of good tracks on the album, but overall, not very good. Best Album: Graceland, Paul Simon. C'mon, you gotta go with that. (I was going to go with the Sweeney Todd album, but then this one came up.) |

Seems contradictory, no? Well, I do suppose, but I go about life the way it comes—randomly. Perhaps this is why I have gravitated towards such artists and music as these presented, so much so I have chosen to include them in my daily life, and why they have been included in tonight's post. It is a direct window into the functioning life of me; the dichotomous duality of a procrastinator-perfectionist as a mutable mortal within the shell of a soul so integrally-inspired. A personal playlist that I happened upon coincidentally by chance, which reflects the response to my existing eschewal of popular predispositions. What more can you can want than to have no expectations and let things click? Just fade away. Be easy, fellows, and enjoy. :) |
I think this thread is an awesome idea and am wondering how I managed to miss it the first time around. I am also thrilled to learn that Redlemon listens to Black 47, who are awesome, but less thrilled to learn that he listens to 311, who are not.
Moving on... AC/DC - Send for the Man (Fly on the Wall) Audioslave - #1 Zero (Out of Exile) ZZ Top - Cover Your Rig (Antenna) Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - There Is A Town (Nocturama) The Tragically Hip - Sharks (Music @ Work) The Nightwatchman - The Garden of Gethsemane (One Man Revolution) Bob Dylan feat. Joan Baez - Silver Dagger (Bootleg Series vol. 6) Nirvana - Polly (Nevermind) G. Love & Special Sauce - You Shall See (Yeah, It's That Easy) Jack Johnson - Constellations (Brushfire Fairytales) It's a bit random that Tom Morello came up twice. Also, when I typed out Jack Johnson at the end, I sat there for a second looking at the list and thinking 'one of these things is not like the others...' EDIT - Forgot to list albums and do the whole favourites thing. That's difficult for me, since I don't really pick favourites. If I were pressured, I would say that Cover Your Rig is my least favourite song. Most favourite is a lot harder, but I've been listening to Nirvana longer than any other band on here, so we'll go with Polly. Favourite album is definitely Yeah, It's That Easy). G. Love kicks a lot of ass and is one of very few bands I can listen to no matter what mood I'm in. |
By the way... Redlemon originally posted this in nonsense... I decided to move it to music.
|
"Show Me How To Live" - Audioslave
"I'm Free from the Chain Gang Now" - Johnny Cash "Stepping Stone" - Jimi Hendrix "Heavy Metal Rules" - Pantera "Fly with the Black Swan" - Sonata Arctica "Katastrophen-Kommando" - Die Toten Hosen "Weenie Beenie" - Foo Fighters "United States" - Smashing Pumpkins "Liebesspieler" - Die Toten Hosen "Flutter Girl" - Chris Cornell Song I like Most: "Show Me How To Live" - Just a small piece of one of my favorite albums ever. Song I like Least: "United States" - I'm just not a big fan of the Smashing Pumpkins' new album. Favorite Album on this List: It's hard to say. "Audioslave" was one of those albums that came out at the right time and a lot of the songs on the album mean a lot to me. On the other hand, I love to bust out Pantera's "Projects in the Jungle" to show my metalhead friends that one of their most beloved, hardcore, angry band was once a hair metal band. |

Many of my 'albums' are "best of" cd's, so it's hard to tell from which album some songs originated. What a fun 2 1/2 year old thread! |

Least Favorite - Texas Taco - David Ball ( I have to stop just importing whole CD's into I-tunes... I come up with a bunch of crap when I randomize. Most Favorite - Jump Around - House of Pain... I dare you to listen to this song and not dance! |
This seems like a fun game, I'm down to revive it.
1. Champion - Brother Ali 2. Starkville City Jail (Live) - Johnny Cash 3. My Lovin is Digi - RZA (as Bobby Digital) 4. Hoto Chotan - RZA (as Bobby Digital) 5. Queen Anne's Revenge - Flogging Molly 6. I wanna Get High - Cypress Hill 7. B Boys Will B Boys - Black Star 8. (Dawning of a) New Era - The Specials 9. I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face - Sonny Rollins 10. Evil Evar - G.B.H. I think my favorite cut off this compilation is probably the Sonny Rollins tune. He's my second favorite saxophonist, behind Trane, and this is a really soulful song. I haven't heard anyone mimic the tone that man could pull out of a tenor. My least favorite would probably have to go to the GBH song. I used to be really into punk, but we've grown apart recently, and the majority of the punk that I can still listen to and appreciate are songs I really liked back in the day. GBH is also really musically simple, even for punk. They're no Minutemen. Favorite album that came up is easily Brother Ali's "Shadows on the Sun," his debut album. He's one of the best underground hip-hop artists around today, and the whole album combines tight beats, rhymes and real messages into a solid, solid album. Highly recommended for any hip-hop fan. And the man puts on a hell of a live show. |
