Pink Floyd offered millions to tour

http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/celebrity/48832004.htm

I think I may cry.

I heard a few albums when I was very young and didn't know anything of Floyd, and they literally changed my outlook on life.

I would sell the left side of my body, quit my job and drive through Hell just to see them live. It may not come to be, however Waters has been quoted as saying "Never say never."

Let's hope that comes true. :)

If they do another album or tour, it won't be for the money.

"I don't need the money, and I just thought it would be a good thing to do," Gilmour said in The Sunday Telegraph. "I've had that house for nearly 20 years. It's made a fat profit and I've scarcely used it for the last six or seven years."

Gilmour, 54, said he sold the home to simplify his life. "You collect Ferraris and then you've got to collect people to look after your Ferraris, and you've got to collect buildings to house the Ferraris," The Sunday Telegraph quoted him as saying. "Life gets very complicated. And eventually, at least in my case, you think 'I don't need this stuff.' And suddenly life gets simpler."

Just read the same article and was about to post it here. I'm very surprised that they'd turn it down. But you never know...the Eagles said they'd never tour again, as did the Who, as did etc etc etc...

It will never happen with the 4 of them. However wouldn't it be an ironic twist and somhow poetic justice (not a Gilmour fan here) if Floyd did release an album and tour with Waters, Mason and Wright as Gilmour sat it out or sued over the use of the name.

The article I read had Gilmour saying "(the idea of touring the US) is mad. We did this with the idea of it being a one-off for Live 8."

That's paraphrased a bit, but that was the size of it.

He also said that every artist should donate any proceeds from the Live 8 albums to the cause. "I won't profit from this concert" he stated.

i believe that they are donating all profits from there cd sales for the next month....if i am remembering correctly

and i agree with them turning down the tour and the money because one they dont need it and two they have families now and that seems to be part of the reason for turning it down

ABBA is still being persued and still keeps declining...

If not for the money, they should do it for the fans. One last "greatest hits" tour for the people who made them millionaires.

^ If they ever toured the US I would find a way to get there.

Asta!!

How about ABBA opening for Floyd. Surreal enough to work?

WATERS: 'DIFFERENCES WILL PREVENT PINK FLOYD REUNION'

ROGER WATERS would never consider a PINK FLOYD reunion tour - because his long term rift with guitarist DAVE GILMOUR runs too deep.

The pair put their past behind them to unite on stage with former bandmates NICK MASON and RICK WRIGHT at the LIVE 8 charity concert in London on 2 July - their first performance since 1981 - and even appeared to have reconciled, hugging each other onstage.

The ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL fourpiece have been offered a reported $25 million each to perform a one-off tour of the US - but Waters insists, as much as he enjoyed the reunion, there are too many "differences" between him and Gilmour.

He says, "The chances of further developing with the Pink Floyd reunion are very slight.

"The Live 8 reunion couldn't have been better, it was terrific, I was really glad it happened, we got along famously and it was absolutely fine, but Dave and I do have major musical, philosophical, political and artistic differences.

"So for us to reconvene would probably not be the most brilliant idea."

Waters has just finished a symphony about the French Revolutuon. He clearly does not want to tour with Gilmour which is a shame, because I too would give an arm and a leg to see them in concert. At least I have their Live8 performance downloaded and can watch that whenever I want.
