P2P

This is probably unlawful but does any of you know a decent Shareware program similar to Soulseek for Mac? Preferably more of an underground thing...

Any help appreciated

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry to say that I don't really know Macs well, but I felt the need to comment on the fact that ideas that start with

try this - soulseekX - http://chris.schleifer.net/ssX/index...slsk4lyfe.html

It's only unlawful if you get caught, and you won't, so... have a blast!

What I do to increase my safety is that I only upload to people in my list. When I d/l something from a new person I permanently add them to my list.

I know that somewhat goes against the file sharing principles but hey, you need to protect yourself

If you have wireless, you can disable WEP but also turn off SSID broadcasting so people can't sniff you out (well, they COULD but.. not very likely).

IF you get caught, flip on the SSID broadcasting and pretend that someone else must've been on your network.

I do the same.

More because I have crap upload speeds, and don't want to 'waste' it on random people ...

... but it also keeps me 'safer'.

Make sure you have an antivirus, firewall, and preferably PeerGuardian on th PC you're gonna use. It's a sweet little program that has a list of IP ranges for various agencies (government, military, RIAA, etc.) and blocks them. It used to be really slow to load and a resource hog, but the newer version is very quick to load and takes up hardly anything. I've been using it for two or three years now, and have nothing but praise for it.

You can get it at Methlabs

I use limewire for Mac OSX and it works fine. In fact, when I'm on campus, I can hop on their wireless and download songs in less than a minute. I just don't share out. Sorry, I just don't.

There's a link for PG2.0 for Linux and OSX, as well as other *nix variants.

Poisoned and Acquisition both work great for me, although I'm not exactly sure it's what you're looking for...?
