60's Psychedelic Music
I'm trying to get a decent collection I can chill to before I go to sleep, I'm opening up the floor to recommendations, since I don't know where to start.
I've got some Jefferson Airplane and some Big Brother and the Holding Company, but I can always use more! Thanks in advance for your help! |
If you can find it, there's this band called Ultimate Spinach. I'm not really into it but it's psychedelic as all get out. I've seen it on Ebay occasionally and I'm sure it's downloadable from somewhere. Good luck.

A few to Consider:
Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever Beatles - A Day in the Life Strawberry Alarm Clock - Incense and Peppermints Vanilla Fudge - You Keep Me Hangin' On Electric Prunes - I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night) Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale Tommy James and the Shondells - Crimson and Clover Tommy James and the Shondells - Crystal Blue Pursuasion Donovan - Hurdy Gurdy Man Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida Jimi Hendrix Experience - All Along the Watchtower Chambers Brothers - Time Has Come Today Amboy Dukes - Journey to the Center of the Mind Byrds - Eight Miles High |
Santana "Abraxas"
The dual cut "Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen" has a lot of trippy wind chime sounds that I used to fall asleep to. |
Moody Blues - from Days of Future Passed to Seventh Sojourn, 7 albums in total
|
Syd Barrett had some great psychadelic songs. Look on "Opel", "The Madcap Laughs", "Barrett", and other albums for some good music.
|
Well, not from the 60's, but definilty psychadelic and definitly good chill/sleep music, I would recommend anything by Sigur Ros.
|
The United States of America, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, Blue Öyster Cult (Not 1960s, but '70s, more metal than psychedelic, but still awesome music), Greatful Dead, and The Doors (more acid rock, but its similar).

nuggets. the COMPLETE collection of psychedelia and early garage music.
|
Thanks for all the suggestions! Everything so far has been pretty much exactly what i'm looking for
|
Buffalo Springfield--Bluebird. Good guitar riffs.
Cream-- White Room, Badge, Sunshine of Your Love Hendrix- Purple Haze, All Along the Watchtower Steppenwolf--Born to Be Wild Byrds--Eight Miles High, LOTS of other good stuff I was also fond of Uriah Heep and Captain Beyond Robin Trower Led Zeppelin Black Dog, Rock & Roll, Stairway to Heaven (those of us who lived through the sixties are probably sick of Stairway to Heaven) The epitome of psychedelic is Incense and Peppermints by The Strawberry Alarm Clock--it's dated now, but you did say you wanted psychedelic. Flstf agrees with me. |
The Doors. This has got to be the best psychedelic band ever. i dont think you can go wrong with anything from them

The soundtrack for Pulp Fiction has a few good 60's psychadelia songs on it.
|
Some of the later Beatles were very psychodelic.
|
The Brian Jonestown Massacre. free mp3s on their site too. they are very psychadelic.
|
For more space rock/ psychedelic music along the lines of that made in the 60's, give the following albums by Porcupine Tree a whirl: Moonloop and The Sky Moves Sideways.
