Fantomas - Suspended Animation
Whoaaaaaa..
Managed to snag a copy of this before it hits shelves. Amazing. It's a lot like the first CD (but wayyyy better) in that there's many tracks without actual singing, but lots of vocal work. The track are named after dates for April 2005 (ex. "04/10/05 - Sunday", "04/11/05 - Monday", "04/12/05 - Tuesday"). Good tracks that really stand out in my mind: 04/03/05 - Sunday 04/10/05 - Sunday 04/13/05 - Wednesday Very interesting vocal work.. kinda funny because it sounds like he's actually saying something, but isn't really saying anything. One part in 04/13/05 sounds like "got a red som bitty, gotta city, gotta red dom bitty". Crazy stuff! |
been on a patton kick recently (picked up Faith No More's "King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime" and Dillinger Escape Plan's "Irony is a Dead Scene") but Fantomas may just be too weird for me. saw them open for Tool a few years ago... weeeeeiiird. will probably check out "Suspended Animation" though

Great news I can't wait to download it when i get home
|
Havent heard this one yet, but I'm sure its awesome, Fantomas is an awesome band when you wanna be weirded out. And they kick ass too
Update- Downloaded it, listening to it now, Really bizarre, but I love it |
I downloaded it sometime last week and haven't listened to it at all yet. Reading this thread made me change what I was listening to, and check it out. Good and weird!

Damn good cd, so much better than the disappointment that was Delerium Cordia. Definately rate it up there with the first one.
|
I loved Delirium Cordia! Very twisted and dark.
My least fav Fantomas is probably the first one... I'm not quite sure why. It's done in the same style as Suspended Animation and everything but... it has that "listen once.. maybe a few more times, and that's it" feel to it. Director's Cut is damn awesome because they're actual real songs. Suspended Animation is just.. all over, and flat out amazing. I rate them like so: Director's Cut > Delirium Cordia > Suspended Animation > Self Titled (or Amunaza al Mundo, if that's even the title) |
I really like this album. It was nice to see them go back to the style used in the first album (or Book). I still like the first one the most but this is a close second.
Has anyone else noticed that he heavily samples the first album in the new one? |
This came out yesterday. Tried to track it down, but it was sold out everywhere I went. I heard a couple little samples of it, and it sounds insane. I actually ran into a guy who was looking for it at Best Buy as well, and he had downloaded the full album and said it was so amazing that he had to go buy it.

My favorite album of 2005. I love the calender that came with the album!

hahah. I finally tracked it down and am actually listening to it as I type this. the calendar is great and really funny. as for the music, my initial reaction to it was believing that these are the sounds a person hears immediately before they go insane, haha. |

The calender alone is worth buying the CD. |
