Radio's Most Played Artists of All Time

Anybody want to guess what the most radio played song of all time is (U.S.)?

Songs written by which two Beatles have been played more than 3 million times? (this one surprised me)

Check it out:

These songs have made somebody filthy rich. I hope it's the musician in most cases . . . .

That list is the product of love song stations. You know, those places where they play the same songs every day forever.

Wow, second on the list : Spoiler: The Association - Never My Love , never heard of it. I mean I am sure I have heard the song...but it didn't leave an impression.

It seems that virtually all of the Beatles songs listed were Paul McCartney tracks. I was surprised that George Harrison's "Something" wasn't on there.

Of course you know this song... maybe?

Quote:

You ask me if there'll come a time
When I grow tired of you
Never my love
Never my love

You wonder if this heart of mine
Will lose its desire for you
Never my love
Never my love

What makes you think love will end
When you know that my whole life depends
On you (on you)

Never my love
Never my love

You say you fear I'll change my mind
And I won't require you
Never my love
Never my love

How can you think love will end
When I've asked you to spend your whole life
With me (with me, with me)
Then they go "baa, ba-ba-ba-baa, ba-ba-ba-baa, ba-ba-ba-baa" or something like that.

Other Association songs are "Along Comes Mary," "Cherish" and "Windy" (Everyone knows it's windy... bum ba bum ba bum).

And I know all this because my friend purchased their vinyl album used at a second hand store a few months ago.

i had always heard that Yesterday was the most played song of all time on the radio, but i don't know if that's the case. gonna check out the list now.

Yeah, but that goes for about 7 or 8 minutes, about 2 times the regulation 3.5 minutes pop song! So you could fit a few spins of Yesterday by the beatles to notched up multiple plays compared to stairway to heaven. Perhaps they've actually had the same run time though, albeit not as many times played!
I thought comfortably numb by pink floyd may be in there as well, but maybe it's 7 minutes or so itself.

I haven't really heard of a lot of those songs though...

I was thinking the same thing about Freebird, but I guess the post above mine shows a pretty good reason why.

Longer songs are really only played on FM while the shorter hits here are played on both AM and FM... well AM before it became almost exclusively talk radio.

I dont know how high it will rate on the all time list but I know I cant go 4 or 5 days without hearing Teen Spirit by Nirvana

MacGuyver 02-26-2005 11:54 AM

"You've lost, that looooovin' feeeeeeelin'. Woooah that lovvvin' feeeeelin'. You've lost that lovvin' feeelin' now it's gone, gone, gone, woooah wooaah woaahh."

What a sweet song. Seriously. I'm really surprised to see that as the only one over 8 million.

I'd like to see the charts for the radio station near my house, I swear everytime I listen to this station if for only 20 mins the smashing pumpkins song disarm comes on...and the sad thing is, I hate the smashing pumpkinot a whole lot of these come as a surprise. thanks for finding this.

Anyone else notice that Ray Charles, "Georgia on my Mind" is on there twice?

Also, I notice the two Eddie Rabbit songs there in the three million block. The truly amazing thing about those is that virtually all the times they were played were in the year after the album came out, and then, just like that, he was gone.
