What is the most ridiculously groovin' song you know?
I'm trying to compile a list of music for keepin up enery levels, but the only music I've listened to for quite sometime is rock n' roll and that limits my musical knowledge base by a lot as it is mostly aggressive and that's no good. Now I come to you music forum goers, help me out. The most groovin' song I know of is Black Betty.
1. Black Betty 2. [...] |

Guys, honestly I dont think some of these songs qualify as groove. The metal stuff? I think we're talking funk here. War Pigs? AC/DC? Black Dog? If thats the most groovin' song you know, good gravy, go pick up some motown or something.
Boz Scaggs - Lowdown Commodores - Brick House Dr. Dre - The Watcher Edgar Winter Group - Frankenstein Incubus - Battlestar Scralatchtica, Are You In? Jaco Pastorias/Little Beaver - I Can Dig It Baby Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity, or basically anything else he does is pretty fuckin groovin KC & The Sunshine Band - enough said... John Otto from Limp Bizkit gooves alot, then Fred Durst opens his mouth and ruins it. Michael Jackson - Billy Jean, pick a song... any song. Ohio Players Outkast - Roses, So Fresh So Clean, Ms. Jackson, Bowtie, Spaghetti Junction, and lots of others Phish - Guelah Papyrus, Cavern, Weigh, and a shitload of others. Dusty Springfield - Son of a Preacher Man A CD I have called "PORNOSONIC: 70's porn music" The Fixx - One Thing Leads to Another RHCP - Funky Monks, Mellowship Slinky in B Major, Sir Psycho Sexy, Purple Stain, Aeroplane Kool and the Gang - Jungle Boogie ! The Lively Ones - Surf Rider Urge Overkill - Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon War - Low Rider Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride Rush - Tom Sawyer The Theme to Knight Rider.... definately Tower of Power - pick a fucking song, funk is all these guys do. except funk ballads. |
Some Groovin' Songs
"Groovin'" - The Young Rascals "Draggin' the Line" - Tommy James and the Shondells "You Get What You Give" - The New Radicals "High" - The Lighthouse Family |
shred_head & K-Wise were getting there with Superstition, personally i think this track is a touch more groovin...
Boogie On Reggae Woman - Stevie Wonder |
Some great suggestions so far. I'd like to add:
"Always On The Run" by Lenny Kravitz |
That new Del the Funky Homosapien cut "Funk Em" makes my head bop something silly.
|
Now that I think about it, pretty much anything up-tempo by Stevie Wonder qualifies as Groovin'. "Sir Duke" is the one that springs to mind at the moment.
|
The Temptations, when they were psychedelic ("Papa Was A Rolling Stone", "Ball of Confusion", etc.).
Talking Heads, especially their Remain in Light album. Talking Heads always makes me move. Try the songs "Houses in Motion" and "Crosseyes and Painless". Blondie, try their song "Rapture." Morphine is really "groovy." Try the songs "Super Sex", "Have a Lucky Day," "Top Floor, Bottom Buzzer," and "A Good Woman is Hard to Find." |
What about Girlfriend Is Better? I love that damn song haha and the video? Classic!

Rufus - Tell Me Somethin Good |
hot stevie groove i'd suggest Higher Ground, that thing makes you move hard.
Since groove is a big word I would suggest listening to Stevie Wonder a lot like suggested. Some great Hendrix tunes with killer feel like Fire or Vodoo Child (Slight return) Some Rappers put out just sick beats that make your head go. Most of anything off Doggie style by Snoop. DMX puts out some explosive grooves. Not exactly what the original poster listens to but they're hot feels. |
O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei

Domo Arigato, Senor Roboto. The Numanuma song it teh ROXXOR.
Surprisingly enough, that is in my current Excercise mix with William Shatner and Ben Folds cover of Pulp's "Common People". Whoda thunk the Kirkman had it in him. He actually rocks on this one. I was immensely impressed (though he still can sing for shit.) Quote:

I'm glad to see I'm not the only huge Talking Heads fan out there...
But, in addition to the great songs already mentioned, I'd like to add: "Like a Feather" by Nikka Costa Just love that groove. |
