Iron Maiden helps me concentrate when doing homework like no other band
When I'm writing an essay, or doing a project, or doing any sort of homework I find it REALLY hard to concentrate... I don't have an attention span. So I try working in silence, but I can't concentrate still. So I turn on some music, but I still can't concentrate... EXCEPT when I listen to Iron Maiden. With every other band, I can't concentrate while listening to them. It's so weird, but Iron Maiden really does help...I am so much more productive when I listen to Iron Maiden and I don't know why.
It's not because of the type of music though because every other metal band distracts me. I tried listening to softer music like classical, opera and jazz but somehow they distract me too. |
any maiden or only the ones with Bruce?
maybe its some kind of mix of rock to keep you energized and Classical opera style singing to help you focus? |
Hmm only time I use music to concentrate is when I'm writing lyrics and I like to listen to a song to vibe off of or inspire me. Never tried it for school work though.

I can only study with music. Any rock/metal/progressive music will do.
I can never concentrate in absolute silence. |
I used music to help me through HS and college. Not Maiden, just what ever I was listening to at the time. I think it has something to do with relating what you're listening to, to what you're studying, and you'll do better on tests by remembering what song you heard while studying.

I agree. Not so much bruce dickenson maiden, but Blaze Bayley maiden, I guess its his meatloaf-esqe vocal style.

Personnaly, I've found that the best music to concentrate is.. whatever music you already listened to death.
This mean two things: - Chances are you like it, if you already heard it a lot. - Since you want concentration, now's not the time to "discover" lyrics or harmonies, if you've already heard it alot, you can phase it out as a background noise (albeit a pleasant one) . In any case, music, being an harmonical, "fluid" sound, is much better for my concentration thanr andom unexpected nosies, such as bits of conversation, cars passing nearby, etc. |
^ Yer talking about music you can ignore like how John Cusak describes Belle & Sebastian in High Fidelity just before Jack Black barges in and yells "What the hell is this shit?!"

It's the Steve Harris Basslines. Intricate enough to be interesting, yet fast enough to slide into the background and just carry one along.

Wait John said that after Jack took it off an put on walkin on sunshine thats right..
