What are you playing this holiday season? |
Anything by Trans-Siberian Orchestra, or Mannheim Steamroller
and occasionally, just whatever random stuff is around. |
I don't usually listen to Christmas music during the holidays but my mother does and of the ones she likes to listen to I love Perry Como...Brilliant voice...I listen to him singing Ave Maria and O' Holy Night. Two of my favorite Christmas songs.
Asta!! |
I just picked up the new TSO disc, The Lost Christmas Eve.
Some great christmass-y tunes on that |

I love the last three songs on the Love Actually soundtrack: Otis Redding's version of "White Christmas," Bill Nighy singing "Christmas Is All Around" and "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Olivia Olson. Good stuff.

some christmas music is hard to bear. i can't make any sort of conclusion regarding kwanzaa music. but here are some selections:
vince guaraldi trio - charlie brown christmas http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CMZZZZZZZ_.jpg apparently amazon is having a sale. music is good though, fairly unobtrusive. john waters christmas http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CMZZZZZZZ_.jpg haven't really heard this, but somehow it is currently ranked #17 on amazon. let's forget about amazon for a second, here's some more seasonal songs: dandy warhols - every day should be a holiday air - new star in the sky interpol - say hello to the angels beck - little drum machine boy massive attack - angel amon tobin - toys nick drake - hanging on a star beck - halo of gold spiritualized - lord can you hear me my morning jacket - xmas curtain curtis mayfield - little child running wild modest mouse - jesus christ was an only child shins - young pilgrims |
Exhumed - No Presents For Christmas
That's it - working in retail has ruined Christmas, the Christmas spirit, and Christmas music for me. |

I worked in a small mom-and-pop toy store growing up, and I lived for Christmastime because I got to choose all the music - so it kept it lively for me. |
to echo the above:
i was sitting in a retail outlet this weekend. i had to listen to house versions of various xmas carols. a house o little town of bethlehem, a house o holy night... it was really foul. i dislike most xmas music--the effects of saturation are not pretty, and i have long since reached that point. whence der blutarsch, which for some reason has crept into my general life playlist this xmas season. |
As much as I complain about how much I detest Christmas, I actually do love Christmas music... but with a few exceptions, I like the standards
A Charlie Brown Christmas - Vince Guaraldi Trio Brenda Lee -- Rockin' around the christmas tree Perry Como, Dean-o Martin, Andy Williams, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole's Chestnuts... And it's not christmas unless Luciano Pavarotti is serenading me with O Holy Night and Ave Maria... two of my most favorite songs --- ever... |
I absolutely cannot stand christmas songs... I've always hated them. They're cheesy.
Right now I'm listening to Nirvana, Pantera, and Tool. That's my christmas music. |
Oh...I forgot my perennial favorite: the Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky...of course I listen to it year-round, so Christmas makes little or no difference to me.

Steve Vai - Christmas Time Is Here.
