If you could create a super-group. . . .
If you could mix and match members of bands, who would you combine to create the ultimate super-group?
My fantasy pick: Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle, Faith No More) on vocals, Tom Morello (RATM, Audioslave) and Slash (G'N'R, Slash's Snake Pit, Reloaded) on guitar, Jason Newstead (Flotsam & Jetsam, Metallica) on bass, and Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana, etc.) on drums. As for good group reworkings here in the real world, I think Reloaded will be a good group if they can get off the ground and keep Scott Weiland off the happy juice. Your thoughts? |
Vocals - Kurt Cobain
Guitar - Tom Morello and Ted Nugent Bass - Cliff Burton Drums - Dave Grohl If they have to be living then Vocals would be Sully (Godsmack) and Bass would be Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) |

OK, I was gonna post my usual smart-ass remark about the All-star Dead Band, but I had a random thought (as I get older, I have a LOT of those; it's starting to scare me.) When the original "Blues Brothers" movie came out, I was thrilled by the music (the movie was OK. just OK) It was a treat to watch the great R&B artists playing roles in the film, because I've been a huge blues fan for YEARS; I know that R&B and Blues are different genres, but most of the really great bluesmen (and -women) had died before that film was made, so good R&B is a logical second choice. Anyway, I'm babbling here, but I'm coming to a point about dream super-groups- don't rush me!! When I heard that "Blues Brothers 2000" was being made, I kinda cringed; the Blues Brothers without John Belushi seemed pretty lame (and it was; the story SUCKED!) But the super-group in that film was a DREAM!! The "Louisiana Gator Boys" was probably the best musical group that could have been assembled ANYWHERE at that time; some of the greatest musicians alive participated, and I got goose-bumps watching the film the first time. If you've blown off the movie as lightweight, WATCH IT!! There's a real good possibility that nothing like it will ever happen again.
And that's my dream super-group.;) |
Chad Smith (RHCP) Drums. Tom Morello (RATM), Rivers Cuomo (Weezer) Guitars and Vocals. Flea (RHCP) Bass.

vocals - Robert Plant

ah, messed up, here it goes again....
vocals: Jim Morrison guitars: Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton (sure, they can back-up too) bass: Flea (that'd be an interesting mix) drums: John Bonham |
vocals & guitar: Wes Scantlin (Puddle of Mudd)
lead guitar: Slash bass: Flea drums & vocals: Dave Grohl you've got two vocals in Wes & Dave Wes has got the range, and the power too. Wes, Flea & Dave all make the songs Slash has song guidance from the other creators so he can just focus on riffs. Flea has got the meanest bass around. Energy & talent galore that brings different styles together, but compliments each other and would produce kick ass rock. You know there got to be some type of TV show in this concept. |
