Do you really know the words?
Just wondering if anyone out there has made up their own lyrics to a song because you have no idea what they are saying. Then when you do find out, you don't like the song anymore. My wife makes fun of me when she hears me trying to sing a song on the radio because I rarely know the correct words.

yeah, that disapointment you get when you learn what it actualy is is no good.
i usualy choose to ignore my new knowledge rather than not like the song anymore |
I was much younger when I first heard the words to Margaritaville. I thought he was saying:
"Put on my flip-flops. Stepped on a pop-tart." then later "Wasting away again in Margaritaville. Looking for my lost chigger and saw." (Whatever a "chigger" is, but that's what I sang.) |

I usually just adjust and feel better and sing that part louder! heh

I've done that once, but only once. Quite embarassing to say the least.

in the warren g song, regulate, in the beginning somebody says "mount up"
when it was getting to that part, a friend of mine goes, "listen, this part is AWESOME, THEY SAY MOW-NA!" then his older SISTER corrected his sorry ass (to his credit he was quite stoned and probably a little drunk......but you have to wonder) whatever the fuck 'mow-na' means anyway |
I actually don't really know the words to a lot of songs. If the way the song is being sung along with the music is good, well, then that is good enough for me. That being said, I make up the lyrics quite a bit.

I do it all the time, especially with music I know, but don't like. It usually happens when I'm driving. I just make up my own words. It cracks my wife up.

I am quite the opposite. If I like a song, I just have to know the lyrics. I would google and study the lyrics until I can memorize them by heart so that I could sing along with the artists, and I rarely dislike a song that I originally like after learning its lyrics. Kinda obsessive of me.
