I know its wrong to download music, but I made a huge exception to this one. I planned on buying this album no matter what, but listening to this only made me want to more.
To sum it up: Holy Shit.

I like that they are remastering PSBWB and SFSGSW but there is no need to remaster the rest of the albums (maybe RIP, big maybe). Remastering everything from Countdown and up is just a fleecing of the fans. In fact, all remasters are blatant ripoffs (so are greatest hits).
Anyways, I downloaded it last night and listened to a few songs. A couple were ok and a few were kind of in the same vein of "Promises" I meant to burn it so that I could get a good uninterrupted listen but I forgot. So far I'm not impressed but that could change once I listen to it all. |

Blackmail the Earth and Kick the Chair are the crunchiest tunes on the new album. The other songs are good. Since Countdown to Extinction It has takin me a little while to get into some of their tunes. They grow on me after awhile.
Just a quick thought here... Megadeth is to Rust in Peace as Metallica is to And justice For All as Slayer is to Reign in Blood. Anyone agree?

Anyone have any thoughts on this now that it's been out a while? I can't stop listening to it, I think it's awesome. Dave Mustaine has to be one of the most underrated songwriters in rock. He knows what's good and how to put it all together. Minor complaint is that I liked Marty Friedman better as the other soloist, but as I said that's minor.

Though I will admit that Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedmen are great guitarists, I've never been able to get into Megadeth. Part of it is because of Dave's horrible voice, and then they just don't do anything for me. As for their new stuff, refer to my second reason for not liking Megadeth.

Well, I think we'd all admit that the current metal scene isn't exactly rife with top-notch vocalists. All of the metalcore crowd is just top-of-the-lungs screaming, and while I like some of that (Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall) most of it pales to a Mustaine snarl.
