Live shows....
I dont know about you all, but some bands really do sound great live, further more if you are into certain bands you will appreciate this even more... check out www.archive.org. I managed to find a show that i went to, it was a great way to get a lasting memory of a show... check it out and let me know what you think.
disclaimer*** this isnt ment to be a endorsement for this site, i just think its a sweet way to quickly get some live shows. |
Yeah that is a good site for live music. There is another one that a guy I work with showed me but I never can remember it. Some bands are really cool about allowing fan recordings and trading too.

fire up bittorrent and head here:
www.sharingthegroove.org good trading site, even better if you have a fast connection edit: better still if the site was up...i guess keep checking |
Personally, I think live shows usually sound terrible compared to studio releases. The live shows that I've been to that I really enjoyed I enjoyed more for the showmanship and stage acts. I think my favorites would be Rammstein and Bare Naked Ladies.

Sweet info

Listen to any Phish live cd and you will see that there are certain bands that just sound way better live than on record. A great older band is...The Band. Their live cds are absolutely incredible!

I prefer live music to studio. You can sound great in the studio, but crappy on the road. The best bands are the ones that sound good recorded, but better live. I don't mind paying to see live music, I'm having a hard time paying for recorded crap.

George Clinton and Parliament and Funkadelic. The studio albums are great and all, but I listen to the live recordings and I can only imagine what kind of whacked out greatness it must have been. I've got one bootleg of a concert where they just keep the funk of "Flashlight" going for 30 minutes.

Panic is the best live band

Thanks! Some great stuff here. This board has always lacked a good thread about where to find good bootleg music. I use http://bootleg.freakin.nl/ alot. Constantly updated and great stuff there. |
you could also go to bt.etree.org for some bittorrents of a bunch of bands...it has a little more to offer than archive.org IMHO...

www.archive.org/audio
go to jimmie's chicken shack. my favorite band ever, best live show i've ever seen |
Radiohead
Radiohead is the best live band these days - their music is almost spiritual and it tingles the senses. Just don't ask them to play Creep because they most likely won't. They come to Cleveland, OH religiously after the making of every cd.. thank God!!!!! tell PJ Harvey to come around too.

Some bands are more suited for the studio and some are just plain better live.
|
Good live bands:
Pillar POD Story of the Year Blindside The Beach Boys Switchfoot Hazen Street 38th Paralell Kenny Chesney Tim McGraw Lacuna Coil I got the pleasure of being in a marching band that played happy birthday for Kenny Chesney on stage in Lexington. It was one of the coolest feelings ever. Acts that suck live: Hoobastank Hoobastank Hoobastank and finally... Hoobastank I went to Meteora, and the lead singer was awful. |
Let me guess. Don't like Hoobastank much? ;) I can be very perceptive sometimes.
|
nobody like DMB live? I think they are good live..
that being said, Killswitch Engage puts on a hell of a show and the vocals are amazing live |
You can get legal bootlegs of Barenaked Ladies shows from their website, www.barenakedladies.com. They have shows from the spring "sneak peek" tour as well as the summer tour with Alanis Morrisette. They changed the set list every night just to entice fans to download different nights.
I downloaded the Aug 12 show from Detroit (The one I was at) It sounds great. |
