Mantus 08-24-2004 12:19 AM

The Messiah has returned!

quadro2000 08-24-2004 06:39 AM

I'm seriously considering buying a t-shirt. That's *awesome*.

Cynthetiq 08-24-2004 06:41 AM

I love it!

I wonder if I they can make one that has something like, "Do you like some music with your distortion?" for those morons with the overblasted stereos and distorted sounding music.

Averett 08-24-2004 06:50 AM

You know... sure, it's funny. But I'm so beyond tired of people putting down someone else's taste in music.

Music snobs are so annoying.

Redlemon 08-24-2004 07:07 AM

Once again, I have to include the succinct:
https://store.theonion.com/uploads/b...hirt_black.gif

(From theonion.com)

On the other hand, this site seems particularly crude. "Hey, I had time to write up my script to insult these people, so I'll look really smart in comparison to what they say on the fly. And, I'll edit their comments down even further to make them look like idiots." Sure, pal.

cfish78 08-24-2004 10:50 AM

haha, that is hillarious they should also hand out good cd's. take this mam and go home and listen! bwhahahaha

umm you've not watched quadro clear the room with the Clown music CD....we're talking party ending, who farted in the room clearing music.

really... :D

bltzkriegmcanon 08-24-2004 11:28 AM

I saw that about two days ago on entensity.net. Fucking hilarious.

"IF YOU ARE MORE THAN 20 YEARS OLD, YOU MUST BE A CHAPERONE."
"94.9% OF ALL PEOPLE AGES 12-18 HAVE BAD TASTE IN MUSIC. YOU ARE IN THE MAJORITY. 5% OF ALL PEOPLE AGES 12-18 HAVE NO TASTE IN MUSIC."

The_wall 08-24-2004 01:18 PM

I got a good laugh from that

Oh-oh. He made fun of a band that Averett likes. Who is it? Evanescence? Wait, perhaps it's Train? :p

K-Wise 08-24-2004 06:57 PM

I like Train....that new Spider Man song they're doing is aweful though. Painful to watch.

Asta!!

PulpMind 08-24-2004 11:35 PM

that's great.
I really respect how he doesn't say what GOOD music is. Since there's so much veriety in what good music is, there's no way he could properly answer that question... he just makes it perfectly clear that all those shows listed are, quite obviously BAD MUSIC.
I want one of those tshirts!

I didn't even look beyond the front page of the website. I'd be sure that he would make fun of a band he likes.

I just get tired of people who think they can tell me (or anyone else) that their taste in music sucks. Like I said.. Just music snobs.

dylanmarsh 08-25-2004 05:52 AM

I feel a little bit more intelligent and happy that I have no idea as to who the hell "Train" is. Based on the "fan" base, however, I can see why I would have no contact with that "band."

Hopefully he'll take on the Simpson sisters and that shitbrick Nick Lachey.

I didn't take the site that seriously. I think it's all rather tongue-in-cheek, and it does seem that most of the concertgoers are somewhat amused - not too many are extremely offended.

Maybe they edited the video to make it look like that, but I'm not quite sure what purpose that would serve. It'd be funnier if people were flying off the handle.

And Cyn, the music I play is not "clown music." It's an interlude in the middle of a a synthesized version of "Hotel California," and while you're right that it sounds akin to clown-type music, it's not the same, dammit! And I will continue to play it whenever I want you out of my house!

Booray 08-25-2004 06:38 AM

Looks like he's gonna be at a Nickelback concert soon in LA. He oughta bring a copy of the mp3 file where their two big singles have been layed on top of each other where there's no distinguishable difference between the two and play it for the people there.

MSD 08-25-2004 07:29 AM

Those video clips got just as annoying as the music they were baching after a few minutes. Also, what the hell was up with the woman comparing him to Rush Limbaugh at the end?

If anyone has 3MB of hosting space, I have a clip that does the same with two Linkin Park songs, with even less of a difference than Nickelback.

roachboy 08-25-2004 08:07 AM

i like the shirts.
i think they would be great to wear during a performance.
almost as cool as the "die yuppie scum" shirt.

anleja 08-25-2004 08:43 AM

That guy has balls.

This woman here trashes ALL music. Nothing is safe. She admits she is a bitter drunk. It is entertaining to read.

Scorps 08-25-2004 11:36 AM

Humm that guy is an asshole. I like a bunch of the music he doesn't. People like what they like this guy is just looking for attention!

Mantus 08-25-2004 11:47 AM

He did mention some bands in the Evanescence video.

The Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Kurtis Mayfield and Bob Marley.

Not bad, but it's easy to name bands that have been proven great by posterity. Finding curent good music is allot harder, but it's there.

He said Jimi Hendrix sucks?

No, his quote was:

"Evanescence now owns two Grammies. That is two more than the Beach Boys, Curtis Mayfield, the Who, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Marley"

His point is that, if legendary artists that have recorded some of the most time-honored albums in music history have been deprived of Grammies, then the Grammies are not representative of what constitutes good music. So Evanescence winning a Best New Artist Grammy is not an indication that they perform good music. I'd have to say I agree with him.

What's sad is that I would imagine that the majority of the people he's talking to have no idea who Curtis Mayfield is and will probably never take the time to check out some of his music to see if it's something they would enjoy. They'll continue to be spoon-fed whatever flavor-of-the-week crap the corporations deem worthy of dropping enough cash on to promote to radio stations and to film cool looking videos and a large portion of the public will continue buying it up because they won't take the time to actually search out music for themselves.

Exactly. I'd have a lot more respect for him if he could name an artist worth respecting that was founded in, oh, I don't know, the last 30 years?

It's true. You just have to know where to look. (note: those are obviously tied to my taste in music.)

Some great music at both of those places

Tophat665 08-26-2004 07:20 AM

I understand those of you who really dislike it when people trash other's taste in music. If someone wants to listen to Justin Timberlake, well, that's their business, I suppose. What really burns my biscuits, though, is that once something like Timberlake or Nickleback or Limp Bizkit (a band that does, in my opinion have some talent, even if I don't like all their music or personnel) gains a following, they tend to dominate public airwaves to the exlcusion of other, potentially more worthwhile artists.

So protesting crappy music (what one feels is crappy music) is not merely about a desire that it would go away, but also about trying to alert people to their options. By accusing people of bad taste in music, he may or may not be correct, but he certainly causes some of them to examine their musical taste, quite likely to their ultimate benefit.

And, besides, it's amusing to watch.

That radio paradise ain't half bad. Thanks!

Evil Milkman 08-26-2004 07:40 AM

Pure Volume

Hunt and peck around Pure Volume and you'll probably find a couple of bands that really play some great music.

Mantus 08-26-2004 12:37 PM

You have it backwards Top Hat. Justin Timberlake doesn’t dominate the air waves because he has a following. Timberlake has a following because he dominates the air waves. Popular music is not made by the people it’s made by the industry. Unfortunately this applies to almost every type of music now days.

K-Wise 08-26-2004 04:48 PM

^ I'm pretty sure that about 400,000 little girls in ever state wanting fuck him doesn't hinder his posisition on the air waves. Has nothing to do with his talent at all. He hardly has any.

Asta!!

sherpahigh 08-26-2004 08:52 PM

 That's hilarious. I love all the stats and info he throws at them.

All true, except I'm not so sure about the Limp Bizkit part. ;)

Oh ok, Grammies where not as big back then as they are today, so many more categories.

K-Wise 08-27-2004 05:00 PM

I'd like to know what the difference between "Best rap album" and "Best hip-hop album" is. I think these fuckin award shows have been bought out too...that way Missy Elliot can get "Best hip-hop album" and 50 Cent can get "Best Rap Album" and they technically give the same fuckin award to 2 people.

Asta!!

Reese 08-29-2004 05:07 AM

Britney runs around out of breath and doesn't even try to look like she's really singing on stage, Eminem just puts his CD in the player and sings along with it, I don't think he even practices which parts he's going to rap and which parts he's going to let to recording do for him. He sounds like shit most live performances I've seen, but then again he's drowned out by his posse talking over him. I'm pretty sure that's really Chester screaming his lungs out every time he's on stage. I think linkin park is better, but that's just my personal opinion. I'm not bitter because your band sucks, I'm bitter because you're band is overrated, really, really overrated. I'm also mad because good bands get caught in the crossfire and considered sellouts before they got a break(ie modest mouse.)
