Anyone ever seen Metallica in Concert?
Im going to go see them this weekend and I was wondering if they were worth the... what... 80 bucks I spent for the tickets.
I'm not sure about the $80, but Metallica does throw a good concert! Fireworks, moshing, it's a great experience. Their new music might suck, but they still throw down a good concert. I went to the first Summer Sanitarium Tour. Korn went on before Metallica, and the floor filled all the way up, and went out of control, when Metallica came on it calmed down a little, and people were actually enjoying the music (rather than trying to breathe). Good times.

I saw them a few years back and they kicked some ass! For 80 bucks I hope you got some really good seats! Have fun!

Monsters of Rock in Santa Monica, And Justice For All tour at Irvine Meadows. 80 bucks seems kinda steep, but then again I wouldn't pay to see them anymore. They put on a pretty good show 20 or so years ago. I can't speak for now, I've been pretty disappointed in their music since the black album came out so I haven't paid much attention to them.
i also spent the 80 bucks for when they come to Iowa State in Ames this August. Im looking forward to it and hope it's worth it.
I also hope the show itsn't 80% new stuff... |
yea, considering where I live if any kind of big name comes this way that isnt Dave Mathiews, I jump at it. I really do hope they go with the tried and true golden oldies
I've heard that havent played more than 2 songs off of St Anger at a show on this tour
I paid $50 but that was in like 98, was an excellent concert tho. Buncha my friends went last month for like $90 and said it was nowhere near as good as the previous one we went to, but that it was still worth it to go.
When I went a few years ago, they mainly stuck with the classic (anything before the black album), did just a couple of new songs. At least then they still know what songs get the crowd movin', and it's definitely not their new stuff.
I've seen them 9 times and a couple of those shows are among the best I have seen, and I've seen a lot. From what I understand this tour is great too. They are using a variable set list that changes every show and they are playing a number of songs they haven't played in years!!! Even Dyer's Eve! As far as the 80 bucks for tix, well...if I hadn't seen them 9 times before maybe. Even though they are coming here, I'm not paying that much to see them.
I saw them during the Summer Sanitarium tour, but Hetfield wasn't there because he fucked up his back or something. Jason Newsted filled in for the vocals, and I must say he did a hell of a job. Metallica gives a great live show, and that night I was lucky because about 90 percent of the show was old stuff. They were the last band to go on after about three hours, but the crowd was really into it. If I remember correctly, I paid 60 dollars.
I've seem them twice and it was a great show if I had the spare $80 i'd probably go again assuming they where near!
I saw them in Ottawa for their justice tour...first concert I ever saw.....$40 but that was almost 16 years ago...ouch I'm old!
I went to last years Summer Saniterium, they fucking rocked the metrodome. 80 is a lot, but I think the reason is because there are a few big name bands on the tour with them. At any rate, if you are a fan of Metallica spend the 80 bucks you will not be dissapointed. And as stated else where in this thread, they do not play St. Anger stuff, they only played like 3 songs on the tour I was at, and that was right after the release of the album.
They still put on a great show. I saw the first show of this tour and they were 100% right on with their material.
I went to Summer Sanitarium in 2000, and they put on a great show. Even then it was mostly stuff from the black album and earlier. I paid 75 dollars for that, and it was well worth it.
I've seen them twice, Monsters of Rock, and the And justice for all tour. Both times, they totally rocked out. The and justice for all tour, it was July 4th, and they played and played and played. I think they played for 3 hours straight before they got off stage, then played a 45 minute encore. Not sure about $80.00 bucks though.
I've seen them 15 times over the years starting in the club days...worth whatever they charge.
I've never seen them but they are #1 on my list of bands i need to see live.

May 11, 2004.. some place in Kansas City
3 of my friends and I are going on a road trip (from STL). What a way to kick off my summer before college, especially since Metallica is my favorite band. |

I'd pay $80 for a Metallica concert if I had the money, but I'd like to see the setlist before I paid. I'd want at least 3-5 songs from St. Anger played (easily my favorite album by Metallica), and hopefully some older stuff. Of course, I'd also enjoy seeing Unforgiven II, Nothing Else Matters, etc.

I saw Metallica back in 97 for free at the Million Decibel March in philly. It was fucking awesome. Too bad their music has gone downhill after the Black album.

nope. but they're worth it for free :-D

Tonight's the night. Never seen them live before and I've got tickets to tonight's show. Should be a good one, can't wait!!
I've seen them 3 or 4 times thus far, each time they were sporting a new disk (Black, Load, Reload) and I'd have to say that the best seat in the house is no seat, cause your not going to need it anyway. The Load show was at the arena and had to pay extra to not have a seat (go figure), GA standing room only, and that was the best place to be. Right on the floor, at worst, 25 ft away.
Now, $80, I'm not sure, if I had the $ I'd do it, but thus far, the most $ I've put out for one of their shows was like $50 and that was for the show previously described. Have fun! |
