Dizzee Rascal... anyone like him?
 

When he first came out I didnt really like him cos he was hyped up, but Im starting to really get into his album. One thing for him, at least (like half the British rappers about) he doesnt put on a fake American accent.

I've only heard his first single in the US, and I have to say that it is original, and catchy. Haven't tried out any of the other tracks on his album, so I wouldn't be able to say anything about that.

Are the other tracks pretty much the same? Or is the first track just a pop track, and the rest are just crap?

He has the same kind of feeling in all of his first album; vicious and almost epilptic rhymes over beats that are composed of modern London noise cut up into chaos.

I think he's amazing

I'll second that. Any hip-hop that my metal-head friends actually enjoy deserves an award. I'd have to say he really revitalized my love for the genre.

if you haven't heard him yet, you might want to check out the streets. he's some british rapper who sort of rambles in a midlands accent over some cheezy beats. it's decent stuff.

the streets is the artist. originial pirate material is the record. it's good. try to find it and listen to it.

i will say that dizzee is better. so don't get too excited.

I don't really like any of it so far. I've been listening for a few weeks... maybe it will grow on me.

i don't know too much about dizzee, though i did see him on advance warning and i have a few of his songs. i guess he's alright, but nothing really that i'd see myself listening to for extened periods of time. the accents too big of a hurdle, and once i actually figure out what he's saying, i'm not all that impressed.

If you like those you have seek out his best track: "Witness The Pitness" - a piss take of Roots Manuva's "Witness The Fitness" which is another British hip-hop classic - well worth a listen.

British hip-hop has always been alive and well, the trouble is it's just a bit too underground for it's own good. I'm not complaining though, I like it like that.

And Dizzee Rascal kicks arse, especially when played at ludicrously high volume.
