Bonnaroo 2004

I just bought my tickets today. It's three or so months away, and I can't wait. There are so many good bands playing this year it's ridiculous. Has anybody gone to Bonnaroo in the past couple of years? I went the first year and had a blast. For those of you who don't know what Bonnaroo is check the link...http://www.bonnaroo.com

NoLa 02-29-2004 09:37 AM

Someone posted this on another board. Looks like a great time.

QuasiMojo 02-29-2004 03:32 PM

I can't wait. I've never been there, but I have a couple of friends that are going and I do believe I will tag along...we are going to rent an RV.

ToolBag 02-29-2004 03:35 PM

Wow, Willie Nelson, Wilco! hell yeah!

usualsuspect 03-01-2004 07:31 AM

My friends went last year. From the pics it looks amazing!

Spektr 03-01-2004 05:06 PM

Bob fuckin' Dylan is going to be there! How awesome is that?

Thats what we're doing this year. You get a bunch of people to throw in for the rental and its not that bad at all. It was a great ime the last time I was there and I'm sure it will be again.

Averett 03-02-2004 04:41 PM

That's a very impressive line-up..

You should go! Plenty of time to make arrangements!

Booray 04-21-2004 09:16 AM

The RV is definitely the way to go there. Did that the first year. Haven't been back since, but may be back this year.

QuasiMojo 04-23-2004 04:47 PM

Heaven looked down and smiled:)

It looks like we won't have to rent the RV because my pal knows someone who is uncommonly cool and will be letting us borrow his RV. WoooooHoooo.

This is gonna be a road trip to end all road trips. I can tell already.

we're gonna get a garbage bag full of mushrooms and have a
vision/road quest that would shame Hunter S. Thompson himself!

((I've been trying to post the entire artists lists from the Bonnaroo site but I can't copy and paste because of the macro-media crap....any ideas? besides manually doing it.))

QuasiMojo 05-22-2004 12:50 PM

hmmmmm. I detect a slight hint of sarcasm here fellas...
:)
Thats all right...10 years ago I would have had the same exact reaction. btw...I got my ticket via UPS the other day
/trying to contain excitement/
/can't/
YAHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to BonnarooooooOOOOOOOOoooo
at $167.00 it is by far thee most I've ever paid for a concert.
however 3 days camping, 2 main stages and 4 tents and over
80(eighty) bands...I think it's worth it.

No, my post was totally serious, man.

I quoted certain bands for a reason

Latch 05-22-2004 11:24 PM

Awesome lineup.. if I may make a recommendation to you guys.. try to make it to Xavier Rudd if you can. He's awesome. He's from down here (actually, only a half hour from where I live)... he does guitar, percussion, and plays motherfuckin Digeridoos.. have a spliff and watch him jam.. it's awesome.

That said.. I'm jealous of all of you.. so many good bands.

GuttersnipeXL 05-23-2004 03:15 PM

I finally got my tickets! Holy crap, in less than two weeks the road trip will begin! These next couple of weeks are going to drag, I know it. Anyway, Saturday night you can find me front row at Primus! No question, I'll be outta my head with a crusty Yankees hat on. Keep an eye out!

blankstare 05-24-2004 07:04 PM

I hear that Bonnaroo is always a great time. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to go.

Jizzosh 05-25-2004 03:43 PM

I've seen Ani D like 3 or 4 times, she's worth the ticket alone, all those other greats make it even better...!

ReggErving 05-26-2004 02:57 PM

I would love to go but I just started a new damn job in which I can't take any time off from. Let us know how it went.

GuttersnipeXL 05-26-2004 05:30 PM

If I manage to figure out my new camera, I'll get some pictures up when I get back....

GuttersnipeXL 06-08-2004 06:33 PM

OK T-minus 18 hours....but who's counting right? I'm all packed up and ready to rock.
I just found out today that there going to have a tent set up there devoted to stand up comedy...too cool, Louis C.K, Jim Norton, Rich Vos...to name a few of the stand ups.... Who's got itchy travelin feet? Guttersnipe does! I'll talk at ya's in a few weeks!

kalisto_911 06-09-2004 07:13 AM

I am hitting the road in aprox. 9 hours, jesus I have waited a long time for this. 11 hour drive, this will be a blast.

I found a poem about a road trip:

Road trip
by C.Lynagh (Member) - published: 04/05/03

I didn’t know to take this road,
Who does? We’re not paid to know.
So I walked and trotted, tripped and fell.
It hurt I got bruised, but this not end’th the tail.

The porter named ‘Jack’, a farmer and porter on the side,
Tapped my shoulder and whispered, “join this ride”.
“It takes you all the way, to where they all jest, and if you use my name, you’ll save 10%”

So I figured, deliberated, and added up the sums.
What do you know, he was right jesters did party there.
Unfortunately mine was not one.
Suffice to say, never take a farmer’s word as gospel,
His road, his ride, may not give your desired affect.

Each mull his own, and each tarmac has a king who douses it with roses.
I walked the lonely road to wherever it stopped,
Hopeful perhaps gold pots grew at the top.
No. They didn’t, they don’t. Roads just end.

I have a joyful ending, all stories must.
Even though I didn’t know which road to take,
Someone, somewhere, on some road someplace taught me a trick.

And I stopped looking at the road,
And I started looking at the place,
And I stopped judging the walker,
And I started remembering to walk.

BONNAROO AWAITS

We should be hitting the road about 8 or 9 this evening. Good Luck and Safe Journeys to all that are going.

Bonnarooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Skettios 06-09-2004 02:37 PM

Sunday looks bad-ass. Seeing Doughty in concert is quite an experience, as is Guster. I will bet good money that they don't play 'Two Points for Honesty'

Booray 06-09-2004 04:42 PM

you guys have a great time there! Be safe

Booray 06-15-2004 05:36 PM

I've got a thread going on another site where I'm gathering setlist info for Bonnaroo:

http://www.phishhook.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=393386

If any of you guys can point me to any URLs with setlists I don't have in the thread, please let me know.

Also, here's a location to find a bunch of bittorrent audio downloads of various sets. More should be added over the next couple of weeks:

bonna-rooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I am NOT 23 anymore
I am NOT 23 anymore
I am NOT 23 anymore
I am NOT 23 anymore
I am NOT 23 anymore....

:)

I am glad to be alive cuz this festival (my first((I'm a late bloomer)) ) kicked the shit out of me! But I wouldn't trade the memory of this for the world.

ok, I'll make this short. I'm glad the seven of us left early(Weds eve) because the old brown bomber of a diesel engined R.V that my buddy borrowed had a quarter tank of gas(when we were under the impression that it was full) and a faulty gas gauge.
heehee HA
YYYYYYEAAAAAH!!!!!!!!
we got about 200 miles into "The Journey"when the next thing we know we conk out RIGHT at the Weyers Cave exit (number 235) on highway 81. It's 1:00 in the the morning we were all laaaughin and siiiiingin
and driiiiiiinkin....we run out of gas.
200 yards up the highway we get more gas we bring it back in red containers. AHRER RER RER RER RER RER.
nothing.

CUT to 13 hours later still hanging tough by "The Roadside." The Samurai roadside messiah has been working feverishly for over 6 hours on our wheezing elderly diesel engine, alternating shots of fuel being sprayed directly into his mouth and swigs of warm Gatorade, his Prowess finally pays off as the last of the air in the gas lines is finally purged and the Beast sputters bangs then BY GOD FIRES!
We all rejoice for we are back in business. just in time I thought, because "The Group" was allllllllllllllmost ready to fall upon this cat
and burn his body by the roadside. But high appreciation was shown and a new fuel filter and fuel-air seperater were installed
and we were off.
laaaaaughin and siiiingin
and drinkin'....
and if we could have gone faster than 25- 30 miles an hour up those ffffffuckin' 9 mile hills out there in West Virginia and Kentucky and Tennessee....
:)
But we made it. We rolled into Bonnaroo about 28 hours after we left Pennsylvania. We were all about half-past dead but none the worse for wear. We set up camp and joined the fray...

end part 1

QuasiMojo 06-18-2004 06:08 PM

Friday was the best day. it was the day before the "Mud."

HighPoints
(i am aware that i will miss 95%)

The fellowship and bonding with the folks I went with...
New Monsoon
Yonder Mountain Band-must check them out more...
Wilco-nice surprise ... String Cheese...47 varieties of herb wafting by you at any given moment...Government Mule...when doves cry...unexpected moments of relaxation...seeing Dylan...mushroom chocolate...second winds...Dave and Trey...Stevie Winwood....finding my tent...Camper Van Beethoven
massive underground society....no cops....great food...waiting for the Dead....wading...third winds...
Primus Rocked! They may suck but they sho did ROCK
bonna-rooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
*Guttersnipe*
huh! Huh! were they awesome or what?! I never realized Primus was so psychedelic. must. see. again. I heard they were just in Philly...I was VERY impressed. the Primus/King Crimson connection....YES!!!!

Well...my feet are swelling back up just writing this and I realize that any Lowpoints from the trip only moved to the bottom of my highpoints list.

It was great and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

with a hearty constitution that is.
