Brand New: Pick Your Favorite Weapon
This album is by the emo band "Brand New" and is labeled 'Pick Your Favorite Weapon'. It came out earlier last year, at first I thought I would only enjoy a few of the songs on there (mainly Jude Law, 70x7) but after I listened to it a few times, read the lyrics, I realised that this band really makes sense. Ok what I am getting at, is has anyone listened to them? I know 'emo' is not really popular right now..but I just love the sound..

uhm.............
emo is really quite popular right now. brand new is pretty much at the forefront of that, along with taking back sunday (fellow long islanders). why would it have to be popular for you to like it anyway? sorry that post really confused me... |
What I meant was more like: probably not many people here like emo...yeah sorry I kind of got that fuddled up.

I saw Brand New last fall in concert with Dashboard Confessional. I liked em, haven't heard much since. Well, they do have a song thats playing on Fuse recently...
|
I've been asking around, turns out not many people have heard of them *suprised*

Your Favorite Weapon is one of my favorite CDs. It was actually first released in 2001, then re-released in 2003. I wouldn't really label them as "emo", especially Your Favorite Weapon, although that is a very tough genre to classify things under. Their new CD, Deja Entendu, is also amazing. Completely different from Your Favorite Weapon, and much more mature.

omg brand new is a fucking god! lol i love em :)
jude law and a semester abroad or failure by design are some songs yall may want to check into, i think theyre incredible :) i can listen to them over and over but yet they're still awesome, just my opinion! : P |
Required listening for people who are fans of the modern "emo" craze...
Rites of Spring "S/T" Husker Du "Zen Arcade" Sunny Day Real Estate "Diary" Braid "The Age of Octeen" But while we're on the topic...what really IS emo? If it's short for 'emotional' suggesting that the music of the genre is emotional...is that a poor label? Doesn't all music convey some sort of emotion? And isn't that an arbratary assessment? Some people may find a particular Dashboard song very emotionally touching, while others think it's shallow and cliche'. Let the discussion begin... |
