cKy MUSIC Fans here.
first off...if you dont know who the band CKY is, this thread probably isnt for you, i put it here so other TFP members, who are also fans of the band, can chat together.
i dont know how long this thread will last, but for me, its definitly worth a shot. im a "diehard" of the band, just wanting to spread the word. ill wait for some posts before any topics get up. thanks, laTer! |
Well, I don't know who CKY is, but I wouldnt mind finding out.
|
they do most of the Jackass soundtrack. Bam Margara's brother is the drummer, so they all are kinda togeather. Its a 4 man group playing basicaly rock..might be called Numetal, but its not crappy like that.
|
It's an Acronym for Camp Kill Yourself. I "discovered" them through some of the skare vidz that Bam did that had them on it. However, their not really a skater/punk band. I'd describe their sound as more of a punk/metal blend.
Many people who don't know who they are might recongnize the song "96 Quite Bitter Beings". Again, "might" recognize it. I would say that's their most mainstream track. Also "Flesh Into Gear" was a track off of their last album (2nd major label release) that got some radio play. I like it, though I'm not a huge fan. I sometimes listen to their stuff when I work out. |
i dont mind what i have heard of theres, which isnt much. i discovered them through jackass and liked it on there so i aquired some of there songs and thought they were good. went looking for their cds but couldnt find them so i havent heard any proper albums.
|
its awsome to see some people posting up on my thread!
skater punk? cmon..CKY is CKY, theres is no label for their music. and before anyone "Freaks" and makes assumptions, "Camp Kill Yourself" is NOT by any means a suicidal cult, haha, Deron Miller, the bands lead vocalist, is (obsessed?) with horror movies, "sleepaway camp" i believe is the one that helped inspire the bands name. the best way to get info on the band is to get it straight from them, go to CKYmusic.com and go the 'ask cky' link, start at page one..and educate yourself... thanks again for posting, hopefullly this will keep going. roCK! |
CKY :)
Bitter Quitter - the anthem song for sled necks 4 it is required by law that we listen to that song before partaking in any form of motorized fun. I have it recorded on my cell phone just in case we forget the CD. |
"Bitter Quiter?" lol, uhm, oops? 96 Quite Bitter Beings you mean? heh heh.
|
Who are the other members of the band besides jess margera and deron miller?
|
Ight , nevermind, i figured them out.
|
does anyone know if they are coming out with a new album anytime soon. The last one i know of was Infiltrate. Destroy. Rebuild.

i dont know if any new album yet either, they have other projects goin on...like going back to europe in march, deron is trying to get the re-release of "Foreign Objects" done, and plenty of other things, but i know that there is new music being made, just no say of any new album release, cant wait though.
|
Hopefully it will be done soon. One of my pet peeves about the band though is just because people at my school have heard the song 96 Quite Bitter Beings, which is a great song, they think they have the right to call themselves fans, or people who think they know the band because they see the people on Viva La Bam wearing cky gear. Anyone else have a situation like this.
|
i hear ya exactly kurtisj, but at least they know who they are, they will grow, everyone s tarts out small. i heard of cky when bams first vid came out, landspeed cky, but that wouldve been the only way i couldve heard of them back then, they were very small. one way or another, they know about cky.

*I should know better than to plug my own site*
whoa..Peetster..thats not cool, its not my own site..im not in the band, nor do i participate in the websites managment, im just trying to spread the word of the band and where u can check em out at. |
hmmmm....do I smell an alliance member? Spreadin the word...good man/woman.
I tried to get into them but I just can't. I like a lot of the songs in landspeed and 2K but IDR just doesn't do it for me. I can only think of two songs on there that I really like, and one of them is just a newer version of an older song. That song "Plastic Plan" or whatever its called just makes me cringe everytime I hear it. But I heard their live shows are great and something that should never be missed. Never been to one and have been offered to go for free, but I just think I would end up paying more attention to how much liquor the bartender is putting in my rum and coke than what is going on on stage. Definetly check out their older stuff though, it rocks. But as for IDR, you may just have to decide for yourself. As for people liking them because of Bam .... shit, I only heard of them because of landspeed as I'm sure a lot of people have. Who cares where you heard of them from...if you like em you like em, who cares how they were introduced to you. I know they hate being known as the Jackass band, but you know what...I'm sure a helluvalot of the people who shelled out the $10 for their newest album heard about them from Jackass. |
of course, alliance member all the way.
music is an opinion, u like it, or you dont. and Jim Kata, its cool that youre not real into them, but at least you know about them, thats what matters. thanks for posting though, roCK on with whatever bands you may be into. |
I just bought Infiltrate. Destroy. Rebuild. video album. It rocks, it has commentary on how they made the videos, some old videos like 96 Quite Bitter Beings and Disengage the Simulator, and an extra 3 hours of bonus live and behind the scenes footage of the band. Its awesome and a good by for big CKY fans.
|
the IDR video DvD is awsome, and the 3 hours of chop n sliced xtras is just as good. its perfect for die hard CKY music fans. roCK on. if u cant find it, make em order it.
|
I've heard 96 Quiet Bitter Beings before, I've had that song forever. That's the only one I've heard, it's pretty good.
|
well Redjake, i suggest you go out and get the IDR album, its only like 10 bucks, its awsome music to get it into, it definitly has its own sound. if you liked 96qbb, im sure youll like the rest even more.
|
CKY just got back from their second tour of Europe? did anyone go? id like to hear how it was and if any experimental new music was tried out or not..!
|
fuCKYou.
The most clever use of an acronym I've seen in a while. But yes, CKY is great. I've had their CD for years. |
I've only heard one song by them, and I heard it off of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3, I think: 96 Quite Bitter Beings. I think that song is pretty sweet, but I never ended up checkin' out anything else by them...I need to do that soon.
|
H12, seriously, pick up a copy of IDR or vol. 1, theyre like 10$ a pop at best buy or somewhere, check em out and let me know what you think! later
