songs you like from groups you dont
ok.. there's this song that i love every time i hear it. i really dig it, but the thing is.. i HATE the group that sings it. i dont like any other song that the sing except this one.
its How Soon Is Now by The Smiths. anyone else experience that? its so weird. |
I hate Linkin Park with a passion but their "Somewhere I Belong" gets stuck in my head way too much.
|
Jim Croce: Bad Bad Leroy Brown.
Okay, I don't hate him, but I hate myself for liking a horrible song written by Jim Croce. |
I hate incubus but I love the spawn soundtrack, they have a song on there with DJ Greyboy. Incubus & DJ Greyboy - Familiar
|
I love "at your funeral" but severely like Saves the Day
|
I'm not a big fan of Everclear but I love their song Father of Mine.
|
rolling stones - paint it black
|
Man......how can you hate the Rolling Stones! Oh well.... to each his own!
I don't know the if it's the real name of the song, and REM lovers will question how I can't like REM but I just don't, but, the song's name I think is Everybody hurts sometimes. |
do you guys think that it cause the song you like is so different than the bands typical sound or cause of the meaning or some other unexplainable reason. i know most of the songs mentioned but most of them seem to be similar to the artists typical sound.
i know that Father Of Mine could get stuck in you cause of its lyrics BulletBob.. its pretty poignant. same for REM's song too perripken.. although i believe to a lesser extent. the song i mentioned although just seems to have such a different sound compared the smiths typical whine. |

|

|
50 Cent-In Da Club
I am very ashamed. |
The one that's not bad enough to be truly ashamed of:
Saves the Day - Freakish The ones that I am REALLY ashamed of: Missy Elliot - The Rain Missy Elliot - Get Yo' Freak On Missy Elliot - Work It *Cries* |
I really don't like Metallica, but I really like "unforgiven"
|
Avril Lavigne - I'm With You
*hides* |
Fool to cry - Rolling Stones
|
puff daddy - bad boys for life ( is that the name of it? )
|
Dirty Work - Steely Dan
|
Faith Hill...Cry....
Aaliyah...More than a woman Jay-Z....H to the Izzo I feel so dirty.... |
Creed - What if........i totally hate that stupid band, but i really like the song. it makes me sick to my stomach.
|
Endorphin - Can't hold on.
cant stand anything else he does, but that song is awesome. |
Man! Am I ashamed to admit this, but I quite like...
Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit. I HATE Limp Bizkit with a pasion, but I actually quite like this "song" purely on the basis of the fact that it is what it is: Big. Dumb. Loud. I mean it was written as a song which was so dumb that even Dursty boy could play it on the guitar, despite not being able to play the guitar. Hence the reason it is just a single chord, over and over. |
Creed - What If. The only marginally decent song that steaming pile of musical shit has ever produced. Scott Stapp should be boiled and fed to children in a third world country.
|
This Love - Pantera
Don't care for anything else by them, but that song is great. |
Got you all in Check - Busta Rhymes
Cry Me a River - Justin Timberlake *gag* I just know someone's going to take away my rocker-chick status. |
Please don't kill me, but I like Where's The Love by Hanson...
I'm opening myself up here, so be nice! Heh...It's just too catchy. |
Break Stuff - Limp Bizkit
|
"The Greatest Fall of All Time" - by Matchbox Romance
|
Unwell - Matchbox 20
Quit playing games with my heart - backstreet boys..... |
Tim McGraw - Dont Take The Girl : The story told is so heart-felt, although I abhor country music, this is simply a wonderful song.
Shania Twain - Any Man of Mine : yet another country song, but, as with any genre, no matter how obnoxious the REST of the music is, there is always gonna be one song that makes you nod your head. |
i never did like the jam but i've always loved "the bitterest pill" it summed up part of my life at the time it was released
|
Blink 182 - Stay Together for the Kids
|
Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas is You
Can't stand her music, however hot she is, but that's a catchy-ass song. Man, I hate myself a little more for that . . . oh, and whether or not you like Britney Spears, check out Hit Me Baby One More Time by Weezer. Yeah, I said Weezer. Get it now. |
Ah, i just thought of another one. I hate limp bizkit, but love rearranged =\ heh
|
missy elliott - gossip folk.
i even like the ludacris verse, and hate him too. |
Avril Lavinge - I'm with You
and... I'll get back. (isn't a song btw) |
Tiny Dancer and I want Elton John to get a bad case of Ax-in-the-head-itis!!!
|
I love Meatloaf, so he's not included in this, but: any artist who only performs one or two songs written by Jim Steinman. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler, "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" by Celine Dion. . . . Jim Steinman is my favorite songwriter ever. Anyone who does one of his songs with any talent performs a good song.
|
i'm not a huge fan of Everclear, but that song "Wonderful" gets me everytime...

Yeah, that is a catchy song. Not a song really, but I never liked Green Day until the American Idoit album came out. I still don't listen to their other stuff, but I really like that album. |
Oh, man. I saw this thread and I thought about Fall Out Boy.
I don't like Fall Out Boy. But an ex introduced me to Sugar, We're Going Down and it subsequently found a place on my playlist. It's not even a very good song, really; it's just catchy as all hell. Also, I suppose this isn't really the spirit of the thread but I'll listen to Roy Orbison sing I Drove All Night, but I can't stand when Celine Dion does it. Her voice is like nails on the chalkboard of my mind. |
I Believe In A Thing Called Love by *shudder* the darkness
I thought of another one Larger than Life by The backstreet boys |
"Goodbye" The Spice Girls
"Hate it or Leave it" - 50 cent "Uninvited" - Alanis Morrisette "My Own Prison" - Creed "Party Up" - DMX "You Sang to Me" - Marc Anthony |
For me it's:
1. 'Been Caught Stealin'- Jane's Addiction 2. 'Space Oddity'- David Bowie 3. 'How Many Licks'- Lil' Kim |
A couple leap to mind: Styx's "Too Much Time On My Hand" and now and then "Renegade."
Richard Marx's "Hazard" is another one that I liked, but can't name another song of his that I'd listen to. |
Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek
Limp Bizkit - Rearranged Zed - Renegeade Fighter (new zealand) Groove Armarda - My Friend Pax 217 - What Is Love |
"Helena" by My Chemical Romance
"True Faith" by New Order "Highway Patrolman" by Bruce Springsteen |
I'm with Martian on this one. I really don't like fall out boy, much less emo as a whole, but for some reason, I like "Sugar, We're Going Down." Like he said, it's not even that good a song, and is nearly unintelligible, but I can't keep myself from mumbling along with it when it comes on the radio.
|
"Stranger By The Day" - Shades Apart
"Steal My Sunshine" - Len "Graduation (Friends Forever)" - Vitamin C |
I can't stand Madonna and the majority of her music, but I do like the song "Borderline". For some reason it doesn't have the same feel as the rest of her songs. I can just imagine other artists performing it, and masking the Madonna image from the song.

Ricky Nelson's Garden Party
Sex Pistols Sid Vicious' redndition of My Way Blue Oyster Cult Don't Fear the Reaper |
