The Darkness?!?
So what do you all think?
The Darkness "I Believe in a Thing Called Love". It's getting MTV play with a fun over the top video. It's getting some radio play. It's hard to describe and very 70's. Girls seem to love it. Guys less so. I'm a guy, it's growing on me. Is it alternative? No, but alternatives stations are their to play stuff that sounds different. This is different, for the 2004 audience. Plus, I think any Classic Rock station that still plays any new music ought to jump all over it. They won't. Inquiring minds want to know? Thanks for listening. |
I've only heard that one song. The video is awesome and I think the song is great too. I heard somewhere that someone said they're the "Gay AC/DC." Their response was "we like to think of ourselves as the straight Queen."

They're nonsense, but in a spinal tap kind of way. my problem is i can't figure out how much of it is schtick and how much is for real.

i love 'em. It's hardly original, but you don't see many people doing that nowadays...'Love on The rock with No ice' kicks ass, and Justin is so naked all the time you've gotta love em...

Here in the UK they are constantly getting air play.they have really taken off big time. I think they have an old idea but with new energy and a bucket full of talent so in a way they are quite original.

Those guys RULE. The whole cd kicks ass. I like "Growing on Me" the most. I cant wait until they go big in the states.

I downloaded their video under the suggestion of Limey. I was incredibly impressed and pleased. I made me nostaligic for the days of Freddy Mercury....even though I wasn't actually alive at the time.

I like em, they are cheesy 70's/80's sort of rock.

These guys are absolutely awesome. Their sound is like some strange Queen/Led Zep/T-Rex hybrid, but it works, probably because they don't take themselves seriously. Without a doubt, their "Permission to Land" CD is in my top 3 of the year, standout tracks being "I Believe In a Thing Called Love", "Growing On Me", "Givin' Up" and "Friday Night". "Get Your Hands Off of My Woman" is also quite popular, but I don't particularly like that one. Check out any of those songs though, I think you'll be impressed.
