Ibanez - GRX 7-20
 

I tried played playing an electric guitar at of friend of mine. This got me verry enthusiastic. I would like to get a electirc guitar mysels and this friend advised me to get the Ibanez - GRX 7-20. Did anyone of you play this guitar and is it good to start with?

Ibanez's are usually known for being metal guitars so if thats what you're into go for it. If not, u can get the les paul ripoff 2500 series from www.rondomusic.com. someone else on here bought one and liked it and it was only $300 so check that out, it should be good for most styles. Another good cheapy is the Godin SD which is ($350 CAD) which is more of a mellow rock/blues guitar.

I'am into metal so Ibanez is a good choise than. Thanks for the advice.

Ibanez, whilst generally geared towards metul, are by no means lacking in versatility. I have an RG prestige (and although the RG stands for rock guitar) the generous guitar and H-S-H arrangment means its perfect for warm blues, twangy jazz, even deep bass classical arpeggio styles, with the wide fretboard. it's a joy to look at, to play, and the maple fretboard lends the instrument a unique aesthetic. Customary quality finish and smooth low action means it's perfect for shredding too, and the floyd-rose guarantees tuning stability and integrity.

I went to a guitar store yesterday and tried out some models. I think i fell in love with the Fender Bullet. Becouse it has a more versitile sound and a thinner fretboard wich is handy when you have small hands like me.

Ibanez's all the waaay for me. All i can say is if Satch, Vai and Johnson use 'em then they're good enough for me.

Schecter makes very good versatile/metal guitars as well...

I've never played on to be honest. What do you believe the best guitar should be though, in terms of criteria?

It really depends on how much you're willing to spend. If you're willing to shell out a bit more for something you're gonna keep around for awhile go for a schecter (www.schecterguitars.com). They're really good all around and look really nice. But if you just want something to play around with by all means get the fender or the Ibanez. I suggest you get a 6-string tho because 7-string is a bit tricky to start out with.

I'm slightly dubious about your comment that ibanez's are just for playing around with, but one day i'll buy a schec' and make a fair comparison.
In answer to my own question, versatility, durability, integrity and quality. Thats pretty idealistic i know, and pretty obvious, but what do you look specifically for in your guitar? If i had to pick one, it'd be ease of shredding.

My budget for the guitar is about 200 euro. It's my first guitar so i won't get an expensive one right away. I first would like to expiriment with styles and technices.

vonstalhein, i didn't mean ibanez's in general, just the lower end models. But as you said, its all a matter of preference. I personally prefer the schecter because of its style and tone capabilities. I don't do that much shredding but a metalhead buddy of mine drools all over it whenever he comes over. As for criteria, mine are basically the same as yours, but i think the most important thing is tone because shredding sounds like ass on guitars with crappy tone.

Hehe, i agree Wraith. I checked the schecter site, and they do look p r e t t y snazz! As for 200 euros, i don't know how much that is since i live in England (in terms of pounds) but a squire strat would probably fit your bracket Supafly, they're durable and a brilliant starter guitar. A yamaha would probably equally suit your low end tone experiment needs.

Those pictures got nothin on the real thing ;p I'm almost afraid to play my black cherry c-1 half the time in case i scratch it. Supafly: check out pawnshops and traders stores too, sometimes you can get an amazing deal

Well I finaly got one! It's a Squier (by Fender) Afinnity Fat Strat it's a limited edition with black metallic paint a glitters. I got it for 170 euro.

interesting pickup arrangement, should make for some phat rhythm. The squire should last you a loooong time. i've had mine for three years, but i lost the top e machine head and have just sent it off for fixing...:( Other than that, it's been fantastic,hope yours is too, enjoy it.
