Whats the deal with PRINCE???
 

Apologies if a repost,

I heard that Prince or the artist formerly known (whatever) has gone all religious & is turned to "spreading the good word" with his music.
Can anyone shed a little light on the subject?

Gotta say when I heard & If its true Im kinda pissed. I was never a huge fan but he always had my respect for being able to play a host of instruments and for being a freaky-deaky wierdo not taking shit from record company fatcats.

Any info??

Prince seeks converts for Jehovah's Witness

Looks like Prince has swapped performing for preaching, reports Ananova.com.

A Minneapolis couple said the singer, who is now a committed Jehovah's Witness, stopped at their home recently and tried to convert them from their Jewish faith.

They said that when they told the "Purple Rain" singer that they weren't interested, he asked: "Can I just finish?"

The couple told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that Prince, 45, then left in a car, accompanied by a woman they believed to be his wife, Manuela Testolini.

Prince's lawyer, Londell Macmillan, said the star was "very committed" to the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Prince, who once demanded to be known by a symbol rather than by his name, reportedly banned 50 explicit songs from his playlist after his religious awakening in 2001.

So basically, if you thought he was annoying before........

if you've seen the taped lectures by kevin smith made at some univs (they played it on the MovieNetwork, sorry i forgot the name), you will hear an anecdote about how he was asked to do a film about prince. there he talks exactly about this issue, where he was to film the reactions of a test audience to this new religious album. very interesting.

Well, I suppose you can hear it coming in some of his music. There were really some elements already in place wayyyyy back in the 80s. I can believe this. I wouldn't give up on him, though. I imagine he'll infuse it into the tunes and lyrics so that you'll never know.......

can you give examples of what was already in place? I find that concept interesting.

i dont know about that but i saw a live consert my music teacher vidotaped about aweek ago and i was fucking amazed prince is a genius... ive heard he records about 17 songs a day

Prince is undoubtedly one of the best artists, musicians, and writers that music has seen in a long time. For music after 1980, he is easily among the best.
