Mystery solved. It's a different artist. I had a friend over last night and I played it for her, and she said it right off, "that's not Iggy Pop, it's Billy Idol!"
"Well I wish, I was born A thousand years ago And I wish that I sailed The darkened sea On a great big clipper ship Goin' from this land into that In a sailors suit and cap Away from the big city - Away from the big city Where a man cannot be free Of all the evils in this town And of himself and those around And I'm closin' in on death And I guess that I just don't know And I guess that I just don't know Ah - Jesus died for somebody's sins But not mine Jesus died for somebody's sins But not mine I don't know just where I'm goin' - Ahh But I'm gonna try for the kingdom if I can - yeah 'Cause it makes me feel like I'm a man When I put a spike into my vein And I tell you things aren't quite the same It's a mainline to my pain Jesus died for somebody's sins But not mine - HEROIN Jesus died for somebody's sins (I can feel it) But not mine - HEROIN I said, Jesus died for somebody's sins But not mine - HEROIN I have made a very big decision I gonna try to nullify my life - you know I get so low and then the smack flows I don't care I'm gonna make it my wife Because when the blood begins to flow And shoots up the droppers neck And I'm closin' in on death You can all go take a walk And I guess that I just don't know And I guess that I just don't know Jesus died for somebody's sins But not mine - HEROIN Jesus died for somebody's sins (I can feel it) But not mine - HEROIN I said, Jesus died for somebody's sins But not mine - HEROIN I said, Jesus died for somebody's sins But not mine - HEROIN not mine, HEROIN, smack attack Jesus died for somebody's sins But not mine - HEROIN Jesus died for somebody's sins But not mine - HEROIN Jesus died for somebody's sins But not mine - HEROIN Jesus died for somebody's sins But not mine - HEROIN Smack attack Don't touch that needle V.R. H E R O I N V.R. H E R O I N V.R. HELL H E R O I N (forever) And I'm closin' in on death H E R O I N" |
Here's one that's been bugging me for quite a while:
Chorus is something like, "Gotta, gotta, gotta get it done!" and the line "I'm gonna go my way," possibly "own way." That and a distinctive guitar riff are all that come to mind, but it's definitely 60s or 70s. I think I tracked it down at one point in the past, and it was the Rolling Stones, but now I can't find it again. |
this old punk songs been bugging me for a long time, i have no idea what its called or who its by, even though the mp3 says its by GBH, its not.
if anyone could help me id be fucking amazed, the opening verse goes something like: Walking down the road, looking at the ground, copper comes up and starts pushing me around. kick em in the balls, smash in his face. tells me ill be done for gbh. anyone? plz help if ya know. this songs been repeating in my head for like 2 weeks. |
Hi everybody!
I really need your help. A week ago I've heard a song in the radio what I really like when I was 1young', and I don't know what its title is. So this song brings Africa to my mind, and in it there's no singing at all, except when a woman starts humbling something like: (h)ey ma ma ma ma (h)ey... Thanks for your help Ohh I forgot... the song is maybe from the 90's. |

Ohh, I can't even believe it!
I almost gave up searching. You are the best Redlemon! (and very fast) :) Thank you very much :) Best wishes |
Any Rescue Me fans can hopefully give me a hand here. During the new commercial for season 4, a song plays with the lyrics "Stop, Drop, & Roll", which repeats a few times, and then finishes with "I'm on fire." Its an up tempo song with a British punk feel to it. I have googled until my fingers bled and am finding nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I haven't looked through this whole thread, so maybe someone has already come up with this one, but I'll ask anyway.
My brother in law was telling me about a new song he heard on the radio the other day. Something about Jewish girls and forgetting all the lessons I learned in shul. He said it was a really cool song, but I'm not finding anything with Google searches. Sorry for the vagueness :) |
I'm going to guess blindly without actually trying to go listen to anything or find lyrics, but guessing by Jewish and being on the radio (assuming you aren't listening to klezmer music on a college station) that Matisyahu is your man.

Don't Stop
I'm not referring to the Rolling Stones this time. :-)
I've been trying in vain to find anything about a tune who's lyrics are nothing but a repetative rendition of the phrase, 'don't stop'. I remember hearing five or maybe six 'don't stops' in succsession along with single or other mutiple 'don't stops' throughout the tune. The last time I actually heard this tune was in 1987 so I'm not even able to hum a few bars of it for you. :-) But, I'll know it if I hear it again. It's possible that the vocalist was someone named Jimmy Scott but Im not positive about that so don't let that name limit your helpfulness. I'll be forever indebted to anyone who can point me in the right direction. TIA |
Ok, I have a song that I've been trying to figure out for weeks now.
It's on a commerical in Canada, I assume it doesn't play in the states, but it's on a "Maynard's Candy" ad; candy's like sour patch kids, fuzzy peaches, etc. The lyric is something like "Lifes a rollarcoaster, turn me around, something something something when I'm upside down." |
Quote:
First off, for those who don't live in Canada, or (like me) never turn on their televisions: Some of you with sharp ears may be able to spot immediately that the first line is not "life's a rollercoaster," but rather "I'm a rollercoaster." 'Aha!' Thought I, 'so this is why Google failed me.' Well, no, it's not. Turns out that this little ditty was stirring up quite a bit of curiosity : http://ph.answers.yahoo.com/question...5171838AACmmJo http://www.torontosun.com/Lifestyle/...71151-sun.html Cadbury, in their typical style, was keeping mum on the whole thing. Now, a lesser man might've been content to just leave it at that. The song is an unknown! One of life's many mysteries. Or Cadbury's mysterys, anyway (I still want to know how they get the damn caramel in the bar). I am no such man, and after further searching and scouring, discovered this : http://majormaker.com/index.cfm?go=site.index So, in conclusion, the song is called Rollercoaster, aka the Candy Song and it's by a rather obscure Canadian group (formed by a Bulgarian and an Icelandian, no less) known as Major Maker who are bound to be less obscure after this. The video is available for streaming on their above website. Don't say I never do anything for you. |

Note: Sean Altman used to be the second tenor in Rockapella; if you ever watched the PBS game show Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, Rockapella was in that as well.

I have a tricky one that probably won't get solved. I heard it on the radio when visiting Boston in early 2006. It's a rap/hip-hop tune of all things so not really my taste in music but it was really good.
I think it's underground (i.e. not mainstream) hip-hop and I can only remember one line. Something like "fit in my gucci (armani?) shoes". It was a male vocalist. --jaded |

The type that's really creepy and depressing, but anyhow soothing to hear...i'm not necessarily looking a single song, but a few that u guys think may be in the region.Thanks.

Hrm, I think the music before that one is something different. I already got that one from the end of the trailer. I am talking about the music playing before that song.

There's a song that was played on KROQ 106.7 in the mid80s something about "Me and my boyfriend like watching horror movies" I believe by the Baldy Brothers.
Does anyone have any ideas? |

Okay, here's a request for something little different.
It's a choral work that I would guess is from around the Rennaissance and written for Boys choir. It's slow and mournful and the notable bit happens when a soloist breaks out from the harmonies to hit this really high note. He holds it for a few beats, then steps down chromatically before rapidly descending back down to the range of the chorus. He repeats that bit a few times and it's what makes the song. I've heard it more than once and don't believe it's obscure. Any guesses? |

In the closing credits of an episode of Weeds, a song was played with a gorilla theme. Lyrics, as best as I can gather:
Quote:
EDIT: Figured it out myself. Showtime's site (http://www.sho.com/site/weeds/music.do?music=season2) has a nifty page that lists the songs played in all episodes. In this case the song is "You Look Like A Gorilla" by The Mope. It's also worth noting that I think Weeds has the best, and most uniquely selected, music of any television series I've seen. It really adds to the allure of the show. |
Found it
I am looking for a newish cover of the song Time after Time, originally performed by Cyndi Lauper. I don't know how to describe it other than a punk-like sound to it. The lead vocalist is male of the cover I am thinking of. I am almost positive it is not the version by The Awful Truth.
- Searching on Seeqpod has turned up an interesting remix of the song, supposedly by DJ Sammy. Cool, but not it. Also something by Booty Bass Ballads, also interesting sound. - Quietdrive did it. |
Okay, I'm wondering if this little piano diddy has a name.
They used to randomly pop up in Family Guy episodes and there would be two men in the and white striped outfits with the old timey handlebar mustaches. And the one always says to the other "Play me off Johnny" and he'd play a little tune on the piano... Does anyone know what the heck I'm talking about? |

It's a top ten Vatican hit called Miserere mei, Deus by Gregorio Allegri: |
Now I'm looking for a pop song that's maybe a year old with the chorus "Don't break my heart." The singer is a woman with a laid-back Feist/KT Tunstall sort of voice (it's neither).
In the chorus, she breaks up the word Heart into a peppy syncopated rythem. Here's some clumsy alliteration: "Don't break my har, huh huh har, huh huh hea, huh huh har-rr-arrt. Don't break my hear!" I seem to remember that the video featured the singer bicycling through a park as she sang. Any help? |
Okay, thanks to a friend of mine and none of you slack-asses, I got the song name.

Help: Who can name the song this clip is from
(Hint: it probably has a man's name in the title)
http://http://www.mentalfloss.com/bl...hives/17832/4/ The rest were pretty easy, so I suspect this is, too, if you happen to know the genre (which I don't). Am happy to share any other answers I have from this or other days this week so far |

Thanks, really, but 'don't stop' are the only two words in the entire song. They are repeated rapidly at points in the song but, alas, they are there alone. :-)

Well, I have a couple.
First, I have a song but it is constantly mistagged on P2P, last.fm. youtube and basically the entire internet. I am trying to figure out who it is actually by. It is a happy hardcore remix of the Tetris theme, most notable is the first line of the song, spoken by a computer text to sound program saying "let's play some tetris, mother fucker". It also has a repeating line of "can ya feel it, ha" and near the end it says something like "one for your trouble, two for your time" ... I honestly cant understand it. At any rate, there are a thousand youtube videos with it... here is one for an example: It is commonly credited to either DJ Rush or DJ Venom. Running it through MusicBrainz Picard also returns a hit on DJ Venom, but then I found that the track time had been changed by a careless user, and that the track is actually only 1:30, while the track I have is 5:41. In addition to that, the CD is actually a DJ mix by DJ Venom, not his original works. Discog points out that the song on the album is actually by DJ Raw Cut. The album can be previewed here: DJ Venom Straight Bangin' CD and the song on the album does sound very similar. Then I downloaded DJ Raw Cut - Tetris 98 from another place and it was totally wrong. I am just going to stop talking about this now, because the more I look the more people this song could be by. Does anyone actually know already or anything? The other song I do not have and cannot find anymore. I used to listen to it when I was like 15, it was called something like "When DK was still a BG" DK - Donkey Kong BG - Bad Guy ... or sometimes it was called something with "Captain N" in the title. It is a similar style remix of Mario music and had the "star power" (I'm wondering, it may have been the hammer from DK music actually) music incorperated into it. It also may have had some backwards parts AND possibly a part where you hear the pause button sounds and the music stops. Any help would be appreciated! |
Dude, were you ever able to get that song?? i've been looking for it for 2 days now but no use, i can't find it anywhere. It would be Reeeeeally nice of you to tell me where i can find it. Thanks man!

Bach: Minuet for Harpsichord in G major, BWV Anh. 114 ![]() You might find it on piano if you search. As for one pianist/harpsichordist over another I haven't got a clue. BTW, the composer is Bach. There is only one composer (for this piece). The people who play it might also be composers of their own music ... but most likely they are not. |
I guess this thread got unpinned, took me a while to find it.
I need to locate a version of a Christmas song. It is popular enough to get airplay during the Christmas season. It is an instrumental version of "Deck the Hall"*, and sounds like it might be Moog-based. Certainly synthesizer. There are two things about this version which I can point to in order to narrow it down: (1) There are long holds between each line of the song. As I said, it is instrumental, but if there were words, it would go "(1)Deck the (2)hall with (3)boughs of (1)holly (1, 2, 3, 4) (1)Fa la la la (2)la, la (3)la la (4)la (1, 2, 3, 4)" (2) They flat the second-to-last-"la". Can anyone help me? --- * Note: "Deck the Halls" is incorrect. There is only one hall being decorated. |
