something odd with kazaa lite

I formatted my comp and lost all my songs I had so I'm starting to d/l them again. However certain bands that I try and download give me screwed up versions of songs. What happens is in the middle of the song I the most annoying sound starts going, then stops after awhile and the song plays regularly.

Is this some sort of RIAA thing or what, I though kazaa lite did things to prevent this from happening. One thing I noticed that was different about this version of kazaa lite then the old one I had is that after kazaa lite it says K++, does that have anything to do with it.

So far the bands I've had problems with is U2 and Jimmi Hendrix.

Edit: I forgot to mention, these messed up files are usually only the ones that most poeple have. What I mean is if 100 users have a certain file for the song, it will most likely be messed up, but if 3 or 4 users have a file of a song it usualy isn't messed up.

Well, this is just what a friend of mine told me, and it may be totally false, maybe someone can correct me if it is. But he said that record labels or someone had been releasing floating bots out into Kazaa and when they catch you dlin a certain song thats on their lists, then they instantly scramble it, as soon as they reach it. Thats why oft-times the songs will mess up at different points throughout the song.

I don't know how true this is, but it made sense to me.

I believe record labels just release decoy MP3s to try to fend off filesharers.

This happened to me whenever i tried to download a few songs from nirvana. It got really annoying. I would bet that it is what crow_daw and Jeff said. I wouldn't doubt if the damn RIAA had something to do with it though.

RIAA is probably behind that, and that's probably one of the reason why Kazaa is actually suing the RIAA.

The K++ does not have anything to do with it. Kazaa Lite and Kazaa Lite K++ are both versions of Kazaa. But Kazaa Lite still has banners/spyware and stuff. The K++ version is completely spyware free.

Just for notes if you were wondering, Yes, they both use the same network (fasttrack?) to access the same files.

funny thing is, this wouldnt' be a problem if people weren't so lazy that they keep looped songs shared! but anyway, record labels have stated that they leak looped songs to thwart pirating. they're leaked when demand is high (just before the albums' release) so these versions spread like wildfire.

they're putting much using those annoying decoys to make it more difficult (annoying) to download songs, so people just give up.. but yeah, people should just delete them so it stops perpetuating. Didn't some of madonna's new mp3s say "what the f*ck do you think you're doing?"

Yeah, I've seen several more "popular" songs have this very same problem.

that noise is supposed to blow your speakers if you have the music turned up loud

ledhead 10-04-2003 02:57 PM

I found that if the song is downloading unusually fast, and by fast I mean extremely fast, it is one of those messed up versions.
