If I were in the market for a guitar, this is what I would be buying. They're pricey, but I have worked w/ the luthier and can honestly say that nothing leaves his shop till it's perfect. It's a Benavente Guitar (google it for his website if ya want.)

I have an acoustic Ibanez Performance 18-S. I can't find out anything about it online. I bought it in '96 and all I know is that I love its tone. I play a lot of fierce rhythm and it does pretty well...I break a lot of strings though.

Dreadnaught?

Jdoe 09-27-2003 12:57 AM

I have one classical. I won't say the name, as I refuse to give the company any furthur business. And I have one steel string, a typical Gibson J-200.

I've gone through about a million. From cheapies to nice ones. In the end, I know (from experience) it doesn't matter what it is. I just started picking up the Cello, gotta keep on trying new things!

Yay! My father has a 1977 D35... Incredible guitar. He had a D28, but he was playing at a gig when a rather cheeky woman (he said she was about 250-300lbs) decided to sit on the chair the guitar was resting in. So much for that.

Personally, I play an Ovation 1862 Balladeer.

battlemouth 10-05-2003 08:02 AM

takamine EG-240 Acousto-Electric
http://www.takamine.com/?fa=detail&mid=186&sid=69# (except mine is in the Gloss Natural Finish.)

Fender Jazz Bass, Mexican Electrics...American Build, Sunburst finish...

And...last (and least ;)) a Squire Strat...The thing has a real dislike for intonation!! I am in the market for something new...any suggestions?

I love the Takamine...I think they sounds amazing for the money, however, I have had a bit of an issue with moisture and the decals around the soundhole...i.e. they are coming off a bit...

Anyway...It is my favorite right now..

cjgallen 10-06-2003 09:21 AM

I have an $100 Strat Copy with dual humbuckers, gets the job done.

My main axe is my bass, my deluxe 5-string Fender Jazz.

majik_6 10-15-2003 08:46 PM

1. Nameless Ibanez bass, heaviest thing I've ever played, but damn does it look nice!

2. Epiphone Les Paul with a red metal flake finish. Very glam.

3. Busted Epiphone strat-style from grade school, black of course with stickers all over.

4. Yamaha acoustic. Dirt cheap, but it plays like a dream.

Jackson and Ibanex both make decent low end models. Thats what I started on. Fender as well has some decent models in their Squire line. Check ebay and your local pawn shops. There are some pretty smoking deals, just gotta look for em.

I got a Samick strat copy (first guitar, paid $50.00), Jackson professional (had it that long I can't remember it's actual model name!), Ibanez acoustic 4 old classical guitars in need of repair!
and a Trace Elliot Super Tramp 80w amp.

Schwan 05-02-2004 02:16 AM

I've played on a cheapo copy of a Music Man Stingray, then got an active Fender Mexi 4 string P-bass deluxe. Right now I own a Fender Mexi 5 string active J-bass, sunburst, and it's a killer!

Oh, I also have a nameless acoustic guitar :-)

I have a Shelton-Farretta Blanca with pegs and a golpeadore extension. I can honestly say I have never played a lighter guitar. She has a very sweet tone and a distinct flamenco growl. For strings I mix and match La Bella black basses and Hannanbach gold trebles.

iamtheone 05-06-2004 10:58 AM
